I bought a US roaming add on for a day trip to Buffalo, I bought it for data roaming to use Waze,. At no time during the day was I able to get a data connection. This was very frustrating as I needed the data and Waze for directions whilst in the US.
I would like to request a refund of the cost of the package. I should note that I did not use any minutes of air time whilst in the US as stated the plan was bought for data use only.
kind regards Janet

I use offline google maps extensively while traveling in the US @Phil_Adelphus
Just uploaded the desired map regions I needed closer to trip date and it worked seamlessly.
Indeed, the lack of real-time traffic conditions / accidents / road closures /detours might be problematic however even with 'live' feeds these are only as accurate as public works reports and user reports being timely and accurately inputted into these services.
And when using it, one can always connect to wi-fi along the way to 'update' the map traffic conditions.

@JanetPodmore As a side note did you know that you can use Google Maps offline by downloading the area to be visited while you still have data/wifi before you leave? I think maybe you can do that with Waze also (owned by Google). You don't get live traffic conditions of course but it could be useful as a navigation back-up option.

What did you do to try to connect to service while in the US?
Not only do you need to toggle your roaming on, you may need to manually connect to the T-Mobile network to use roaming add-ons in the US.
And you also may need to reboot your phone.
You may or may not have done these items, and you can try your luck with the customer support agents and they may agree to place the amount of the add-on cost into your available funds for future use.

you can use this link to message a Customer Support Agent to nicely request a credit to your account for the add-on that didn't work...

added..next time come here before and we can guide you. You must have Data Roaming enabled for data to work in US.
