Until November 20th, if you refer a friend to Public Mobile, both you and your friend get a one-time 1GB add-on. Refer up to 5 friends and receive five one-time 1GB add-ons! Your friend can also refer 5 friends on top of their 1GB welcome add-on.

Taking advantage of this promo is easy. Just follow these steps:

 

As a Public Mobile customer you need to:

  1. Be a good pal and refer a friend to Public Mobile.
  2. Tell your friend that they need to successfully activate on a 30 or 90-day plan during the promotional period in order for you and your friend to be eligible for the promotion
  3. Reminder, if you refer a friend you’re also eligible for $1 referral credit off your monthly bill for as long as your friend stays with Public Mobile.

  1. Activate a Public Mobile SIM card at activate.publicmobile.ca
  2. Enter your active Public Mobile phone number on the referral page during the activation process. Be sure they enter your number and not their own.

  • Do these 1GB data Add-Ons expire?

No, the 1GB data Add-Ons do not expire. Any remaining data in your Add-Ons will continue to roll over until used up.

 

  • As a referrer, do I receive one 1GB Data Add-On for every friend?

Yes, you can receive up to five 1GB data Add-Ons for every friend you refer as long as they successfully activate during the promotional period. Please note it may take up to 72 hours before your Add-Ons are  added to your self-serve account. You will receive a text message when your 1GB Add-On is added to your account.

 

  • If I am referred and then I refer a friend or family member am I eligible for both sender and receiver rewards?

Yes, you are. This means that you would receive one 1GB Welcome Data Add-On for being referred, and another 1GB Data Add-On for every friend you refer (up to a max of five 1GB Data Add-ons for five friends referred) who successfully activates during the promotional time period.

 

  • I am a Legacy customer. Am I eligible for these rewards?

Legacy customers are not eligible for the one-time 1GB Add-On offer or loyalty rewards. However, new customers referred by legacy customers are eligible for the one-time 1GB Add-On offer.

Terms and Conditions

If you’re a current customer and refer a friend during the promotion:

  • You must be an active Public Mobile Pick & Pay customer.
  • TELUS team members, contractors, sales representatives acting on TELUS's behalf and associates at retail locations who receive special pricing are excluded from this promotion.
  • You and your referrals have to accept these terms to participate in the program.
  • You can only refer individuals with whom you have a personal or family relationship to ensure compliance with Canada's anti-spam legislation.  You can’t refer yourself or an existing Public Mobile customer.
  • Legacy customers are not eligible for the one time 1GB Add-on offer; however new customers referred by legacy customers are eligible for the one time 1GB Add-on offer.
  • If you refer a friend and they activate during the promotional period, you will receive a one-time 1GB data Add-On up to 72 hours after your referred friend has successfully activated.
  • You receive a one time 1GB Add-on for each friend you refer, up to 5 friends as long as they activate during the promotional period.

There is no such thing as one size fits all.  This service is only suitable for those who are comfortable with online only service.  You should get your father in law to look at Zoomer Mobile.  They have a call centre, but no physical stores.  From what I have read, customers who stay with them for 6 months qualify for their suite of loyalty plans which are pretty good.  Do some research powered by google.

@mimmo I'd like to see a discount on the current in-market PM plans as a fall promotion. At least then people who are signing up would feel like they are getting some sort of "deal".

@Rustynayl   dont forget you can always renew your plan early. Actually PM doent have 4gb LTE plans any more 3 or 5gb

Assuming:

9gb/90 days= 3gb/month if you renew after 2 month = $75/month for 4.5gb

15gb/90 =5gb/month if you renew after 2 month = $90/month for 7.5gb

 

not great but i still think better then most others.

Everyone is right--this, on it's own, will almost never be enough to sway you to try to recommend PM to someone, or to sway them into acutally moving to PM.  If that's what you're looking for, this isn't it.  This is a nice little bonus on top of the monthly referral reward you will get from referring the person.  It's a 1-time "thank you".  Like when you go to a liquor store to buy a bottle of your favourite spirits and there's a little sample bottle of another product attached, free with purpose.  Chances are pretty good it's not enough to sway you to a different brand, but hey if you're buying your Crown Royal or whatever anyway, why not have a little extra treat?  Of course you could modify this analogy to other things too.  Like often when you walk through the makeup counter of the Bay or Nordstrom you'll see free gift bag when you purchase a certain amount.  Or at your favourite clothing store there might be a buy one, get one half off sale.  

 

This is purely my opinion, I have no inside info here, but I don't think of this as a promo (and it's not marketed as so), but rather as a limited time thank you for referring or being referred, if you were going to refer or be referred anyway.

@denkom  what is decent enough???  I would just ask your father-in-law to find the best deal he can and then give you the details and then you compare PM vs the other guy.    In my Koodo comparison in a previous post savings could be as high as 37$/month based on a 5gb plan.

This is nice, but i'd love to see a fall promo to go along with this 1 gig bonus. I don't think it's enticing enough for people to switch over from other carriers.

I think you are asking way too much. 1GB addons are worth $30 and with 5 referrals you will be earning $180 worth of add-ons plus the regular rewards. I understand that many of you are on the fall 2016 promo and barely use all data, but this can be useful for those on lower data bucket. I am still on the $90 1Gb plan and if they offered a plan cheaper than that, I would be on it because why pay for more gig if you are not gonna use it all the time? 


I am not asking too much at all.  As I have already mentioned, it's up to the customer I am trying to bring in.  I don't see a lot of friends wanting this service anymore now that the real promos are over.

@mimmo, For some friends, it comes down to them wanting more than 12 GB per 90 days... for others, they still want to get a premium phone on a 2 year contract (no idea why anyone wants to do that nowadays).

@Rustynayl  what reasons do they give you for not wanting to come over?

Older/existing  plans do seem to be cheaper than current market plans.  also when upgrading people i beleve are made to choose current market plans.

 

I was curious on price difference between PM and others.  have to say PM pricing is pretty good. some comparisons are not exact but close enough.

I already have a tough time referring people to PM when the promos are good... I doubt i'll be able to convince anyone to come over with a non-promo price, just for an extra GB of data.. 😕

I have tablet plans that currently cost $7.50 per month for 3 gigs of data.  So, in my books a gig is worth $2.50.  I suppose a bit more since this gig doesn`t have a freshness label on it.  Anyway, it doesn`t really matter how much we value the bonus, it`s what the prospective new customer thinks that is important.

Personally, as I'm failing to use my 12 GB over 90 days, this is another promo I can suggest, but the extra GB would be lost on me.

 

I do try to recommend Public Mobile, and I've successfully refered people previously, however due to problems at the time, one referal failed (my number wasn't configured as a Public Mobile ready to be refered), and the other fellow used a different friend to say he was refered (He didn't know me long enough he said).

 

I recommend the service because for the most part, the service rocks!  Plans although not as good as what I got last year, are still a value compared to the larger companies in Ontario.

@ShawnC13are you on the 120/12GB plan? Same here. I barely use 3 GB out of this plan. But I wish there was a possibility to give some of my Gigs to my referrals.

Well @Jeremy_M, I guess this is kind of a promo but definately not what many of us were hoping for.  This adds no incentive for me personally for recruiting as I am no where near using my data in my current plan but I guess it can help new members who sign up with lower data limits and need the addon.  For those with lower data limits this can be a great way to build a "bank" of data that doesn't expire.  I do continue to promote PM and actually have a lunch meeting this week with a friend to discuss the service.  I will mention this for sure but for me no additional incentive to push harder promoting PM.
