The badges have been disappearing when clicked on for as long as I can remember. As you said, they reappear if you refresh the page. No idea why this happens.

Keep an eye on your credit card statement to make sure that no payment is charged on what would have been your renewal date. If you are accidentally charged (though this is unlikely to happen), contact the Moderator Team for a refund.
