Currently, Public Mobile sends a text message to the customer if there is a request to port the nubmer out.  In the text message, customers are asked to contact a Public Mobile moderators if the request isn't authorized,. However, I do not believe that it prevents the port out if the customer doesnt' respond, or if moderators get involved after the port out has completed. It's also my understanding that Public Mobile is currently working on something when it comes to port out protection.

Here's some recent articles:

CRTC should open public consultations to update port protection, industry experts

From that article:

"On January 15, the CRTC issued a notice to carriers requesting more information from carriers and the CWTA on the number of cases that have occurred and what the industry is doing to protect consumers."

I don't seem to be able to find anything else about the notice to carriers posted publicly yet...

It's bureaucracy always moves too slow. And since the Harper reforms. They rely upon the industries to police themselves. Which in my opinion never works. Since the groupthink, unless it affects their own pockets is it seems to always be duck, hunker and hope it blows over.
