majority of apps don't connect using data

gmgood

Asus Zenfone 3 - just joined PM yesterday.

Have setup APN's as directed and checked several times.

gmail, outlook, and a couple other apps work fine, however many others do not, including strava, weather network, accuweather, etc.

Mobile data ON; Data Saver OFF; Checked app permissions to allow for background data

Any thoughts?

Thanks. Understood. Done.

@gmgood  normally you mark the solution to the persons response that assisted you most not your own. You can change that if you want by clicking the 3 dots on right of post that you marked as the solution. You'll see a popup with options. One says not the solution. Then you can mark someone else's as the solution.

Glad your issue is fixed.

Well I'll be...Uninstalled 'the weather network' app and reinstalled.

It works.

OK, will try some others.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I may be onto something.

No, not just notifications. When starting up most apps, get a no internet connection error.

Have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Have you tried uninstalling the app then a fresh install?

It isn’t just “Push” notifications that aren't happening to some Apps? That could maybe be a different setting again?

@gmgood  Check the settings for these apps (weather, strava, theScore) specifically.

Is there any data restriction in place for them?

Oh, right. Yes I have received and sent text messages just fine (sms and mms).

@gmgood  Good idea to double check that mobile data is working for gmail and outlook.

Have you also tried sending or receiving mms?

@gmgood

Is your phone up to date? How about the apps themselves?

If those are all good then I would get in contact with the moderators to see what is up

Tried that on a couple - weather network and Canada weather.

Same result. Sigh...

@gmgood , this is indeed a odd behavior.  If just one app can get mobile data, that confirms that mobile data has been set up properly.  The only thing I can think of trying at the moment is to delete the cache, force close and restart those apps that are having issues with using mobile data.

@gmgood  developer options enabled on your phone?  Maybe you limited the apps access there? Background process limit.

Restarted phone several times, including once since reading this post.

Same result.

Have you tried the full restart of phone?

gmgood
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

No. Account is $40, 5GB data.

@gblackma

Good point as the account COULD be as little as 250Mb on the $15 account and even though the account is new, something could have chewed through the 250 Mb very easily.

<edit> but possibility quickly ruled out by @gmgood

5 GB limit and used 37 MB so far.

@gmgood log into your self service account and check to see if you have data remaining.  Stay safe.

Have you tried rebooting the phone since you finished the set up?
