having some trouble setting up data

Hi all,

I love the idea of PM and I have changed over from my long time Telus account.

Some info ....

LG G4 - Marshmallow up to date

unlocked

installed sim and setup account no problem .... chose the 6 gb / 90 day option

Went to the 'setup data' thread and followed it.

Thought I did it right but I am unable to send mms or use Pokemon Go... no data connection available.

I have attached the screenshots from my settings pages .... perhaps I misplaced a period or transposed a couple letters in a name.

Any thoughts?

@jp2 ah yes, another year-and-a-half-dormant thread is revived with an unnecessary solution suggestion.  Just another day in the PM Community!  😉

Hi,

I have a LG G4 H812 and it was not working data by factory reset. However, it is solved by adding APN setting below.

Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
Username: Leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: Leave blank
APN type: Leave blank

Step 3:

Select Save/Done. Select Public Mobile to connect to the Public Mobile network

Exact link is below.

Hey guys, any solution other than factory reset? LG G4 is the worst phone of all times Smiley Sad No root on Marshmallow and now this.. How can you mess up the APN settings that much Smiley Sad

If I do the LG backup, it wont save the settings for the apps.. correct? Smiley Sad I need root for that.. Once I restore from backup it will install the APK's as if I install them for the first time..

I stopped at a wind mobile store earlier today and my data was not working with wind mobile sim.. calls and texts were ok.. my LG G4 H812 is unlocked Smiley Sad I regret porting my number from Koodo

And of course no reply to my emails from Public Mobile for 10 days.. but I have a welcome survey email from them lol

Hi @basicbill,

Unfortunately, there is a known issue with the G4 sometimes.  Here are a couple of threads:

http://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Phones-Hardware/LG-G4-not-connected-to-cellular-data/m...

http://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/Unable-to-get-data-working-on-lg-g4/m-...

Unfortunately, the only known resolution is to do a factory reset of your device.  Doing so will erase all contents on your phone, including data, photos, files, etc.  To help minimize that, I understand there is an "LG Backup and Restore feature" you can use before and after the factory reset to help keep all your info.  (Credit to @aataulla for pointing out this is the only resolution, and using the backup & restore).
