I have an iPhone 5s. Switched to Public Mobile 2 months ago. Now have no service living in middle the middle of Kelowna. Can someone help.

Yes, I did that, but it turned out to be a defective sim

 if you haven't already, try powering off your phone, removing your SIM card, waiting about 60+ seconds, then reinsert the card and power back on.

That's the same phone that worked during the 2 months? Did you buy the phone new or used. If used, it might have got reported as lost by the original owner.  Does your phone show having signal?
