Re: [RESOLVED] Select customers on Province-wide talk plans experiencing outbound call issues

Good morning,

I got this sms yesterday, I seemed related to the 'outage'. I'm also on the province-wide plan.

I got it from 306-991-0020, and it says that there has been a refund on my account in the order of 45$, and asks that I click on http://159.203.0.192/.

Now, as I am extermely suspicious, I opened this IP address on my browser, and I got a "warning, malicious website" message.

Was/is this text msg legitimate?  (I don't think so, but rather be sure).

Cheers

This is factually incorrect. All devices connected to the internet have an ip address. Whatever they're running, ie. website, mms proxy etc. has an ip address underneath. Type in 23.23.153.163 into your browser and www.telus.com/en/ shows up.

(I was expecting publicmobile.ca 🙂 )

It's called Domain Name Service (DNS). They all resolve to an ip address to find the site.

For the OP, I would say that is a scam site. Public Mobile uses several "numbers" for communicating. 611, 100 are two off the top of my head.

  1. Make a new post.
  2. IP addresses are by default illegitimate.

I don't know what is the link....didn't click on it..but what you can do is to see if you have a private message (envelopp right up on this page) or go in your self serve account if something change in your available funds...?? Or write a message to the moderator just to be sure..https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437 and ask for explanation directly...
