Outgoing Text Not Working

Bobjones

I'm able to recieve texts and phone calls but when I send a SMS out it says "sent" but recepient doesnt receive them. ANy idea why this is?

23 REPLIES 23

On my Xperia, group texts (though only 10 addressees and a message that would be SMS to one person) are converted to MMS. I assumed that this was normal. Would "fair usage" pop up if it was an MMS sent using data instead? Just curious.

Yep 250 in one hour is definitely above and beyond normal usage... if you contact the moderators you have some sucking up to do... it may also just start automatically working after your "average" works it's way back down over time...

For bulk sending you might want to consider a VoIP service like voip.ms where you can setup a softphone or use their API to send texts as a pay per use basis. Even then I'm not sure if their terms restrict bulk sending, but I would imagine they'd have a higher threshold...

Thank you!

Check with the PM Moderators.

To contact the Public Mobile Moderator_Team, there are two ways to reach them:

1 -  Click the bubble comment circle on the bottom right hand side of your screen to talk to SIMon the chat bot or link:

OR

2 - Contact the Moderator_Team via private message using this link:

It only works if you know who the provider is for each recipient

You can send an email as text to your PM phone:

Send to 999123456789@msg.telus.com

(using your 10 digit phone number)

Better yet. Do you know their email address?

Maybe...

Terms of service:

Use the service in any way that requires excessive network capacity or that may adversely affect other Public Mobile customers or the service;

Engage in any activity on the Public Mobile or partner networks that is seen as excessive or malicious, as solely determined by Public Mobile.

Many of them sesponded back. It's just recently that it stopped working.

@Bobjones  test yourself.

Text a message like "hello" to your cell number. It should go right back to you. Does that work?

Yesterdays and todays.

It's jsut recently about 1 hour ago that it stopped working.

@Bobjones ,

This sounds like - more than one receivers of this text did not receive it, is this correct?

@Bobjones  Did the 200 go through yesterday with no issues?   As far as you can tell, did NONE of the 250 today go through?

If you send a single SMS to one individual now, is it being received?

@Bobjones

That's a whole lot of texts.

Have you ever considered using email for this purpose?

Can send to number@msg.telus.com

We have the 45 dollar plan unlimited plan.

I believe it may have been around the 140 mark but sent as sms.

We are getting ready for the holidays so we sent about 250 sms today for our promotion. The sms was the same to all our clients.

Yesterday we sent about 200.

I'm just wondering if it may have registered as spam and somehow blocked our outgoing texts.

Then it would be extremely doubtful that you have the $10 plan. And why would you have chosen no texting with the old BYO. So it can't be any limitation of the service.

Is there a spam thing for a business? Did your text get blocked due to thinking it was a spam? Was it a group message? Maybe you hit whatever the limit is for here?

Hi @Bobjones

Which plan do you have? Is it an old one with limited texting?

All the plans currently offered include unlimited texting.

Are you using the native text application on your phone?

How many character are in your text? I believe if you are trying to send more than 140 characters, you will need to send it as MMS.

I tried but it did not resolve the issue.

@Bobjones ,

A few more things to check:

  • Check to make sure you have the latest software version.

  • Remove and insert your SIM, reboot.

  • To clear your message cache, follow these quick steps:

1. Launch the Settings app, then scroll down and tap "Apps."

2. Tap the "Messages" app.

3. Tap "Storage."

4. Tap "CLEAR CACHE."

It happens when I send it any recipient.

Hello @Bobjones ,

If your chat features are on, Turn it off:
  1. On your device, open Messages .
  2. At the top right, tap More. Settings.
  3. Tap Chat features.
  4. Toggle "Enable chat features" on or off.

Does this work?

ADDITIONAL info. EDIT - make sure the sender of the text has their Chat Features OFF as well.

Is it just this one person or for everyone you contact? Can you test others?

If it is just one person then maybe their phone settings have something set blocking incoming texts or your number.

@Bobjones  Does this only happen when you send SMS to one recipient, or all recipients?  Try sending to another person.   Let us know.
