Hi,

I am a Rogers customer and planning to move to Public mobile. I do not want to change my current phone number. Plus i recently moved to Ontario and my number starts with (647). Please advise if i can switch to Public mobile using the same Ontario number. I appreciate the response.

Unfotunately, that's not always the case. There's a whole bunch of numbers that can't be ported to Public Mobile. This happens when Telus Mobility doesn't have a phone numbers assigned to them that are for the same city as the number being ported in. When it comes to the Big 3, there are places where either Bell or Rogers can port in a number from that location, but not Telus (or Public).

@sonipritesh There are a few numbers that are not allowed to be ported. Certain towns may have ownership of numbers etc. I have never heard of this being a problem between numbers owned by the big 3. Stay safe.

Yes, you can bring your current phone number to public mobile. This procedure is done when activating Your SIM card.

@sonipritesh your Rogers account must be active to port. Here's 4 articles on activation and porting and the Refer a friend reward  if required:

2.How to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/activation-account-set-up
3.How to port https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/choose-your-phone-number
4. Refer a friend https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/the-refer-a-friend-reward

Stay safe.

@sonipritesh you can read this article to help you start the process yourself. or go into Walmart as @iliketotalk suggested.

@sonipritesh yes you can order it online or you can go to Walmart I know they are still open for business and they can sell you a sim and some of them will even help you with activation is your choice and yes you can activate it during your sign up or as some suggest you can waitAnd take a temporary number and when you know that everything is working then you can port over your number from Rogers but you will need a Moderators assistance to do that just remember to keep your account open

@sonipritesh yes just start the activation process once you've received the SIM card. make sure to use private/incognito mode to avoid issues

Should I order the SIM card online and port my number while activation?

@sonipritesh Oh yes you can keep your same number if you wish you can port your number during your sign up with public Also remember to keep your account open with Rogers until your port is complete or you could possibly run the risk of losing your number
