Can't text to my wife

ahnseong

Hello folks,

Please help me out.

Since I changed my phone, I can't text to my wife.

I can receive a text from her and still can call each other.

Only problem is  not to send a message to her.

We both have any problems with others by text and call.

I don't think it's because of my new phone. Like said, I have no problems with others.

I have restarted my phone a few times but it doesn't work.

Is anyone who can solve this problem?

I know the problem has been solved...

But it *might* be possible you forgot to use the Country Code?

It sounds like you may have only used the area code making it so you could receive texts but couldn't send them.

Sorry, I had already set it up with this.

Yes, it worked.   Since I manually type my wife's number with a message, it has been through.

I have no clue why it happened.  Thanks for your help.  APPRECIATED!

Yes, I already checked the block setting of both phones.
Sorry, I can't find 'clear cache' or 'clear data' of the message app.
Anyway, I don't think this is why because I have never had this for over 10 yrs.
I will try another phone with my sim if I can't find the solution.
Tks.

@ahnseong

I would say Chat Feature setting, by default, was selected. So go into settings and DISABLE it.

Others already mentioned this has a possibility( @Dunkman  and @HALIMACS ), but steps are a bit different on my phone.

  1. Open Messages
  2. Tap More options

    Settings > Chat features
  3. Turn Enable chat features off

Ensure this feature is off on your Wife's phone as well, but it is likely on your end since the phone is "new to you".

@ahnseong

If Android, it's likely you have chat settings enabled.

  1. Go under Messaging app,
  2. click 3 little dots top right,
  3. select Settings,
  4. under Chat settings, scroll to "Select default messaging type",
  5. toggle it to Automatic or Text/multimedia msg

I guess you have already checked the block setting on your wife's phone??

Also, you can try to "clear cache" the messaging app.  Then Reboot try again.

Next to try is to " Clear Data" on your messaging app but make sure you backup all the text first if you have important ones.  then Reboot and try.

Another thing to try is to use another Text app like that Google Messages.  you can download on Play Store.

Last to try is to put your SIM on another phone and test it out.

@ahnseong

Probably something setup issue with your new phone.  If you put the PM sim card in your old phone, texting to your wife should work.  That rules out PM service issue.

Maybe try network reset of phone. Either enable or disable RCS Chat feature on your phone.  Another possibility is to remove her contact and previous text thread.  Add back her contact and try texting her.

Can you manually type in the number to text your wife.

What model is your new phone? Old phone?  Your wife's phone?

If using iPhone, it might be an issue with iMessaging.  Make sure data is turned on.  SMS text option turned on.
