Hi Everyone,
This seems like a good community to ask about money-saving tips in general. I saw there was a post about grocery stores.
Does anyone have other websites or services that are good options? I'm really liking PM so far, is this kind of model around for services other than phone lines too?
Are there places where you go to find out good deals for things? I'm hoping to trim my spending over the next few months, so any tips are appreciated!
I can share one - I use StudioTax to file for my taxes, which is free. It's pretty easy to use (especially because you can pull in the info the CRA has, and automatically fill out a bunch of forms, as long as your bank or business submitted the information to the CRA).

@will13am You're right, I should have made that clear. I've donated too, now that I have enough to be able to do so, but when I was first starting out, it was helpful to have an option that didn't need to cost anything.
Even if I'm paying, I'd rather support something that is made freely available to people.

@Jb456ré Internet t.v.
I'VE been watching TV via internet on my cellphone since 2005, I'm long aware of that. BIG name ISP providers like Bell Fibe, Telus, Star Alliance sell off chunks of their internet to smaller companies whereby you might get an excellent deal for home phone +Unlimited internet and specialty television/radio stations that you couldn't before.
Someone living in Nfld, away from St.John's is at a disavantage specifically, it's the distance from the main hub of activity.

I have been a RFD member since 2009 and I think it is the best overall forum with a Canadian focus. It is not just for hot deals. They have a forum for just about everything. They also have an off-topic section which covers stuff that just doesn't fit anywhere.

OP, studio tax is not truly free. They do rely on generosity from users. If nobody contributed, it won't be around. I use that tax program to do my mom's taxes and I give them $5 each time. This is comparable on a per return cost on the paid program that I use.

@dnadolny Visiting @Jb456 suggestion of rfd can really get you good deals many of which are accessed online and ship across Canada. Recent huge markdowns available online included marks, sports check, London drugs (yes they ship across Canada for an extra fee but you don't have to pay pst so it evens out in the end.) You can get in on the kelloggs gas card deal....it ends up being a prepaid visa card. Keep an eye out for swoop airline deals....they fly to St. John's now.

Depends on which province you hail from.
For example t.v./internet servers can be expensive but have found one that uses the black bell box with incredibly low price for unlimited internet (and $10.00 + either TINY, SMALL,MEDIUM,LARGE or XTRA LARGE package of channels) and your package. all these channels come from BELL. It's not Bell that's giving me this deal! I have 25mbps download for unlimited internet at $34.95/mo. If I took 15mbps unlimited internet, I'd be paying $25.00+tx.
SO, where do you live
All you need is Internet. Plenty of websites to watch commercial free tv. One or two hours after it airs it's online with commercials cut out. And well everyone should know all the websites you can get every movie off of even Netflix ones and ones in theaters 😁 Enjoy your savings !
Sorry can't list any here as it's against forum policy but google is your friend.

@skrdan I'm in Newfoundland, and not particularly close to St. John's - no SuperStore or Costco within easy driving distance, unfortunately!
