yeah we see the increase in energy usage too during the summer and especially during the winter months.

My favorites months have to be March to May and then september to end of October as I like to have the windows open, love the fresh air.

@stevenanto

Lol....for the first time in my life we actually had air conditioning only because the crappy roommate I had left it and all his crap when he did a runner on the rent it was practically worth it's weight in gold when we were +40 there for awhile.....

I'm on an equal payment plan but daily average cost of electricity for this big old 5 bedroom house during June $2.09/$67.70 and July $2.04/$70.75 compared to March $1.61/$52.77 just goes to show how much it costs to run a portable air conditioner and a couple of fans!

@darlicious I actually made a mistake, the first 40kwh we are charged 0.061$ per kwh then it goes up to 0.08. I had just checked my bill lol.

so for for the past two months I had spent 128$ on my electric bill, that is for a family of five, electric car, mining rig running 24/7, and the ac blasting during our ongoing heatwave lol.

@Korth

Yes Iceland is a great place, i have no idea what their summer temps are off of the top of my head but I have seen most of the reasons you have listed on other crypto forums.

So where I have setup my rig which consists of 6 cards it is in my basement in a room we barely use. the average temperature of our basement this time of the year without the rig running was 21-22 degrees. Now in that room the highest ive seen was 29 but it hangs around 27-28. The rest of the basement is between 25-26.

I wonder how much I can save on heating during the winter months. time will tell

@Korth

Also whiskey and any other tipple is very expensive there....

@stevenanto

Aha....I see. There are no peak hours here just a high and low rate under 710kwh is $0.0941 and over is $0.1410.

stevenanto
Model Citizen / Citoyen Modèle

@darlicious we dont have peak hours like most of the other places. we do have something along the lines of under 40kw within a day is one price and then over it increases.

lucky in QC for that as we do pay the cheapest.

@stevenanto

That is cheap $0.0241 less than we pay out here. Do you have just one rate?

stevenanto
Model Citizen / Citoyen Modèle

@darlicious 7 cents kwh

Going off topic here....might get a whole new thread out of it.....

@stevenanto

What's the electricity rate in Quebec?

What is the easiest way to buy or earn cryptocurrency now?

@CFPartDeux I have read quite a bit on mining as a whole and the different coins.

Thankfully being in QC we have the cheapest power and it actually heats up a room in the winter, of course depends how many rigs and machine you are running.

I did get my hands on two 3060gpu which any gpu is hard to get nowadays in store. If anything you can sell these for a little profit even once you have used them and decided that mining is not for you. The chip shortage doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon as gaming consoles like ps5, xbox, cars are just waiting to be shipped out because they are missing this chips. the wait for a tesla model 3 or Y is end of November/early December. The gaming consoles are still sold out since their launch in November 2020.

@stevenanto  How much research have you done on this topic? I ask, because although you can certainly keep mining whatever coin(s) you want, it may be a money losing proposition, depending on the worth of said coin(s), vs. the cost of the hardware AND the power used to mine those coins. Supposedly, the upcoming switch on mining Ethereum will likely make mining it via GPU a non-starter, so in that case, what would you mine, and actually make a profit on? 🤔

stevenanto

I would like to start mining rather than trading crypto. The reason being because if it is a flop or it decides to drop I can still keep making more coin or just sell the equipment for almost as much what I have paid it. Today it is just a matter of finding some GPU with all the chip shortages

Which exchanges do you think are the most reliable and convenient for buying cryptocurrency now? And which cryptocurrency is the best to buy now? Bitcoin or something else? I recently registered on Bikkex exchange, because there are adequate fees and I plan to buy cryptocurrency to sell it later.

In my experience, everyone who has any cryptocoin is trying to sell cryptocoin. They made money at it and you can too. This is the time to buy, right now.

All you gotta do is spend real money to buy cryptomoney. Crypto has no actual value beyond what you can convince others it's worth, what you can convince them to pay for it.

I have been dealing with cryptocurrencies for a long time, so I often heard about short bitcoin and I was wondering what it is. It turned out that this is quite an interesting scheme for earning from simple manipulations. In one pass you can make a profit from one thousand dollars. If you are also interested, then go to the site and study.
