Jason9

Hello,

I gave an unlocked iPhone to my mom. The iPhone is unlocked from Rogers. I moved an active Public SIM card from a iPhone 6s to a 6. (6 is in way better shape and a 32to 128) It say “No Service”. I have tried a SIM card from;

Rogers-Worked

Virgin-worked

freedom-worked

kodoo-did not work

public-did not work (which I need of course)

I have tried; -shutting off them on again

-reinstalled SIM card 15+ times

-airplane mode (wait a min) airplane off

-cellular, reset network settings

-confirmed the phone is unlocked

-called apple. They say to contact the carrier

I’m at the end and now require assistance please.
Thank you all who respond.

I am curious. I see the SIM card has;

Settings - Cellular - Sim Pin I’ve selected off.
Could that have anything to do with it? I select it on and it asks for a Sim Pin? I have tried different codes but they have not worked. I am down to my last attempt. What will happen when I get that last attempt wrong?
Thank you all that has taken time to respond

Ok so I did a hard reset and then connected it to iTunes and I did not see a carrier reset. I will investigate this further.

 @Jason9 : Edit: I re-read things...You have tried the SIM in other phones. Doesn't work. (Edit: softech makes me think twice on that) You have tried other SIM's in the phone. Works.

Before you go blowing out things maybe as yet another look see, you can check the last 4 digits of the SIM card # registered on the account. Go into Change SIM and just look...don't complete.

We're all grasping at straws. Unfortunately, there used to be a Telus system for checking their own blacklist but it disappeared not too long ago.

Cool.. so, the SIM is good. .but did you try to factory reset the phone and put the SIM in , power up, connect to iTune and have it download the latest Carrier profile?

Erase all content and settings from iPhone
  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone. If you're erasing your iPhone because you're replacing it with a new iPhone that you have on hand, you can use extra free storage in iCloud to move your apps and data to the new device. ...
  2. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

Erase iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

erase all contacts and settings on iphone,

When a device work in 2 different carriers, it's already not a lock issue  🙂

The OP has already stated it is an active pm sim card vs a recently activated one.

Correct, but OP never stated that this 'active SIM' ever worked in any other phone.

Maybe SIM is damaged... Try it in any other than Apple phone.

sorry your device is locked and you need to unlocked,

Shouldn't be locked remember OP said this:

Rogers-Worked

Virgin-worked

freedom-worked

they are all different carriers

Koodo is not working too.. so, somehow the phone is not working on Telus famiily

@Jason9 maybe it is a sign you need to give your mom an iPhone 13?  LoL

Did you try a factory reset with your iPhone yet?

Also, you updated the carrier profile?

you might try to sync to iTunes

1. Insert PM SIM - do not turn phone on (if SIM is already in, turn off)
2. Connect to computer with USB cable.
3. Start iTunes if it doesn't auto run
4. iPhone will switch on. Wait until iTunes registers it and checks for updates
5. Install the carrier profile update (if offered, if not, go to step 6)
6. Disconnect and restart.

Do a full reset on the iPhone and start from scratch with the PM SIM card.

Can you try your PM Sim in another phone please. You need to narrow down if it is a Sim issue or a phone issue.

@pkaraa

Good point.

@Jason9

Try a network reset a few times after ensuring the software is updated to the latest version.

The phone isn't blacklisted as evidenced by how many other providers sim cards do work in the phone. It's just not working on the telus network.

I hesitated at suggesting as I came to the same conclusion before hand. But one should check all possibilities. Like a Telus black list only....if there is such a thing.

First narrow it down to faulty SIM or faulty phone.

If it is working with Bell and Rogers both then it is unlocked.

Can you reset it again (it has been reported recently that you might need to reset it more than once.) or a low level format. You can google the process.

After format, it will be like a new phone setup all over again.

I doubt if your phone is Black Listed but do also verify if it is or is not here.

Are you getting the IMEI # from settings=>about?

Are you getting the IMEI # from  dialling  *#06# on your keypad?

If from back of iPhone on from SIM tray....those #'s could be wrong.

Use one of the first two.

Also try this web site here.

The above option will tell you by your IMEI on your iPhone if it is locked or not. There will be lots of pop up and advertising...but get tot he bottom and it will tell you the lock status.

Or in general => about towards the bottom this means it is unlocked.

The vintage of your phone would have been sold as a locked phone unless it was bought at the Apple Store.

I too say it is a locked phone.
