Hello,

I’m considering PM as a mobile service provider. A retailer On CraigsList is touting a $48 plan whIch includes 8.5 G of data, unlimited Canada and US calling but claims  it’s LTE at LTE speeds (not 3G). Is this legit or am I being hoodwinked. Thanks in advance.

@ams87

It gets better than that

It's gonna get $1 cheaper every year until it settles on $43 (5 years)

If you make any referrals you get credit for that too

You can get it lower than that definitely

What kind of phone are you using?

@ams87 Correct. You are being hoodwinked. Since you will have to activate the SIM and account yourself run away from that seller. If you need one, just ask the members here to give you a referral code for a $10 credit upon activation.

Being self aggrandizing I also always recommend being prepared: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/BE-PREPARED/m-p/112014#M20827

Welcome aboard (well soon anyway).

Just buy the plan yourself online here. There is lots of help here. The guy you are dealing with is dubious. And your going to give him some personal information too? Don’t.!!

Go to Craigslist and get a referral for $10 off for you and maybe a free or $5 SIM card.

But whatever....do the account online YOURSELF.

@ams87 it's 4g LTE capped at 3 mbts. There is also latency in the system that allows you to choose 3g speed uncapped at either 21 to 42 mbps depending on the 3g band available in your area.

Here's 4 articles on activation and porting and the Refer a friend reward  if required:

1. What you require to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/what-you-need-to-activate
2.How to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/activation-account-set-up
3.How to port https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/choose-your-phone-number
4. Refer a friend https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/the-refer-a-friend-reward

Welcome to PM.  Stay safe.

@ams87 Everything is true but not the LTE speed. You get 2$ discount with autopay making it 48$. The data is 4G LTE but capped at 3 Download. It is still fast enough for my needs. I can browse the web even watch 1080p YouTube no problem.

Here is the plan details;

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/ab/plans/50for8GB-3Gspeed

it is 3G speed.  So, the retailer is not being truthful.

This is the standard $50 plan with a $2 discount per 30 days if signed up to the Autopay payment program.
