Another CCS pm offer

darlicious
Mayor / Maire

Canadian Cellular Supplies just released their latest offer in conjunction with pm's Lunar New Year's promotion. A free sim card with up to 50% off your first month plus the pm promotion.

I wonder how this works with the promo not being stackable with other in market offers?

Has anyone activated with CCS?

More fake news? I wonder how they can do this? Edit: Answer in the next post.

The activations by CCS are a whole new kettle of wax....they have been reliable for sim cards and 3 minute discounted voucher flash sales but I have yet to hear of anyone activating with them as there is too much personal information that they ask for to activate.....you're in Toronto why don't you do some reconnaissance for us wetcoasters......

An official retail partner that you activate in person has certain legal and ethical obligations **bleep** are supposed to live up to and if not there are ramifications for not doing so.....

As far as I know there is no partnership between CCS and PM.  And giving personal info over the internet has far greater risks than in person at a recognized retailer.

I do agree we need to stick with official PM partner.. cos there is always risk we give our info. to the person ..   if not, we can all setup our "own" PM reseller and help others.. and use our own referral codes.. LoL

sure, there is certain risk.. but unless you do it all by yourself online.. if you go to a store to setup internet or mobile or anything like that.. you have to give them all the info and there is a risk.. even at home, you call the company helpdesk to setup .. you still have the risk that the person will keep all your information on the side.. ..haha.. even you reply PM moderator via message have a risk.. it's sad but true. just hope there are more good ppl out there 🙂

Edit: Dang it....I must have hit the "g" instead if the "t" again in "they"....sorry folks!

I don't trust people that call me back on what's app instead of an actual phone number.

the only good thing is they able to find someone to talk to and check the activation ..

last time my friend activated in Walmart, the process crashed mid-way..they though the activation didn't complated, so they  tried to activate another SIM and turned out they activated twice.  The Mobile Specialist has a phone number to call and talk to someone directly and get it sorted out  (yes.. some people questioned me before and challenged  there is no number to call, but i was there and I saw the person talked to someone directly and able to cancelled the duplicated account.. ).    So, for that, I still think it is better to go to a Walmart or any physical kiosk  and let them help.. especially the webpage crashed issue seems to be very common..

Meant, assumed, supposed to know. Bad bad bad marketing. If they say something it should be explained, fully. So EVERYONE could be a potential customer.  These guys are clueless and definitely not forward thinking.

but activation by CCS is pretty much the same has I went to Walmart Mobile and they helped us activating?   yes, we have to give them all the personal information and credit card, but this is pretty much the same as I go to any mobile store and activate any mobile service..

@LurganIeUk

From their last promotion....up to 50% off meant:

  1. 50% off the $50 plan=$25 in savings.
  2. 45% off the $45 plan=$20.25 in savings.
  3. 40% off the $40 plan=$16 in savings.
  4. 35% off the $35 plan=$12.25 in savings.
  5. 25% off the $25 plan=$6.25 in savings.

1.  How can they stop a resale or giving them away free? By increasing their prices and limiting to 2 per month. Or does any one know what other controls they have over their already sold SIM cards? Or should my opinion of their marketing remain....amateurish.

Did Public Mobile put some stops and controls on them?

2. The hokey “have a SIM card first” Activation program. Can you input a referral? Does their online input interact with the Public Mobile system or do do they have a chimp duplicating your input of highly personal information? Or does the chimp do just enough to activate a SIM and you have to use another PM online option to complete? Without talking about sales tax they are only offering $2.25 in savings.

3. up-to 50%OFF on 1st month depending on what plan you choose. “Up to”...”depending” ?? Can’t see clarity here more wishy washy talk!!

4. Is this legal in Quebec?

Would be nice to hear back from some one that tries.

@HALIMACS

They have stated in the past that the discounts are to drive traffic to their site. While they do sell some stuff? The constant ask for a 5 star google rating only and the amount of advertising on their site i think their profits are driven by outside advertising rather than sales of cellular supplies.

Perhaps they have some arrangement with public mobile - or they're simply covering half the first instalment and giving away a PM SIM card, at their cost?

I do not believe their offer would be considered "in Market" since it's not coming directly from public mobile.

All this begs a bigger question - what's in it for them?

It could be like a no gst sale. You still pay gst they just give you the equivalent at point of purchase. That's my guess anyway. I wonder what pm compensates them for a sign up? Better than half the first month I'd say!

I don't think they are official. They probably give voucher at a discount price when you activate?
