@will13am is it? I think it's just a marketing suggestion. Many companies actively communicate deals and promos to their customers via email or text. Even Fido sends texts with offers sometimes, and I beleive emails too. Most companies like to leverage their existing [hopefully happy] customer base to help drum up referrals and word of mouth. This doesn't sound like an unreasonable request to me.
When I went the the US a couple weeks ago, PM sent out a text telling me I could get the add-ons for roaming. I didn't have a need, but this is essentially the same thing in my mind.
@srlawren, don't get me wrong, spamming existing customers with text and email is a very cheap form of advertising and if the existing customer base really like the service, they are likely to tell their friends and family about the promotions. It is all good. I was merely commenting that labs is generally about fixing ills with the existing service, receiving feedback from existing customers on service betterments. I just felt that this may be viewed as "off topic" as decisions of this nature is an internal matter.
As long as you are able to opt out of it, I think it's a good idea...for some people. I personally don't want to be bothered by nuisance messaging of any kind. I'm on the website enough to know when promotions come up
