Hello,

So I was asking a few  people how to refer a friend. They told me that it's more or less word of mouth, when they go to activate they need to enter the referring members telephone #  in order to be rewarded.

I was thinking, why not include either a link with a member specific code embedded in that's accesed via Self-Serve account that can be copied and pasted and sent to the friend.

OR

A link from the referring members self-serve account, with the same idea as above with a code embedded, but basically you click that link and input the friend or friends email address.

I think once out of BETA, a more convenient and fool proof way of being rewarded for referring a friend would benefit both Public Mobile, as I'm sure there would be many more referrals than there probably was under the current referral system and the member would be more inclined to want to refer their friends.

My two cents. Hopefully it all makes sense.

Cheers!

Hello PM,

I would like to be able to refer "friends" with a referal link or even by "username".

Business Reason:  I want to refer all the people I know to this great company BUT there are office colleagues, neighbors, aquintances, etc that I do not want to give them my personal cellphone number.

Second Business Reason: I have a small blog where I post deals I find, like cheap internet, cheap tv, cheap wireless, etc. I would LOVE to refer people to PM, but of course I do NOT want to make public my personal cellphone number.  A referral link or code or "username" would work great.

I think this idea would make us easier to promote Public Mobile to all the people we know.

Thank you,

JL

This is a great idea - thanks for bringing it up, @jairolevi. It was discussed in passing as part of the following idea before: http://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Public-Lab/Refer-a-friend-website/idi-p/18919

This is something that would be nice to have! Some sort of code or user name for referrals would be great! For the exact reasons you say, I just want to refer a few people that I know, and am acquainted with at work.. But not entirely willing to give them my phone number. I like this idea! 😀

Hi,

If and when the above idea is implemented, obtain a toll-free number, in the interim, from kall8.com, which I have used for years. Enable the toll-free to forward all calls to your PM number, and ensure that your outgoing greeting doesn't mention your PM phone number. Also, in your Kall8.com account, block calls from all USA area codes. Plus, if you receive any spam calls, block future ones in your account. You will not be charged for calls from the USA or the second spam call from the same number if you enable one of the prerecorded intercept messages.

FYI.

@Martin I'm very confused about your comment. How does the toll-free mechanism you describe, connect with the referral system proposed in this idea? Please clarify.

Hi 778,

I stand corrected. Evidently, I've travelled through too many worm holes where time and space become confused. Accordingly, I'm going to bed now. I bid you adieu!

Hi,

Though I'm grandfathered and thus not eligible for any financial compensation, I'm willing to refer people to PM, but only if my name, address and phone number remain unknown to those referred.

I belong to an organization based in Alabama (not the KKK!) When people want to sign up, they use my business name (or username in PM's case) clearly visible in a hyperlink. Upon clicking it and signing up, I receive a certain amount of compensation. In the 11 years that I have been referring new members, I have never known the hyperlinked system to malfunction.

Cheers.
