I'm sorry if this idea has already been posted... I try to search for the same...

In the current PM referral program the referrer receives a referral credit for their hard work while the new customer does not receive any special bonus.

I would like to suggest that the new customer should also receive a bonus when being referred by an existing customer, for example the new customer would receive one of:

  • A special promo plan only available via referrals
  • An additional discount due to the referral

I know there are downsides to this model (less $$$ for PM) - but this would close the loop on using the entire PM community as an active sales force, not to mention increasing customer loyalty.

I would lean towards a special referral promo plan that's not quite as awesome as the 2016 fall promo, instead offer a smaller bonus until the next large promo rolled around.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Not a bad idea, however i'm against certain people receiving certain plans for actions.

If you miss out on a promo plan, that sux, but i cant stand when these carriers have deals for new activations only.  You existing customers should be jsut as important.

THe referall credit though is not a bad idea, give the new person $2 credit for the first cycle, or split the referral credit $1 each.

This is a great idea. Without some sort of incentive, it is hard to entice friends and family to join.

I can see the way the referral plan as it is but I don't really see a benefit of offering it to  the new customer also.  I was referred and the savings on the plan was enough for me to jump on the plan and make the switch.  I really don't think PM needs to increase the incentive to join them.  They already have a great price structure that will offer most users a big savings on what they are currently paying and with the community and loyalty rewards it is additional savings they can earn.  I like that you earn your additional savings it just isn't given to you for signing up.

Just my thoughts.

I can see this working as special plans can be offered for referrals.

This would be equivalent to loyalty plans that other companies provide.

The quality of the plan can be adjusted based on the loyalty of the referrer.  🙂

I agree that there should be something for the person referred in addition to the $1 for the person who referred them.  Why?  Because that helps ensure that the referral properly credits the person who told them about PM.  It's possible that the referral signs up sometime later without bothering to get the referrer's phone number to enter during activation.  Even a small, one-time credit would be something to encourage proper attribution.

The new customer is already getting a huge gift in the value of the service.  Every single plan using all three choices has a $60 discount on 90 days, autopay credit if they attach a credit card, and there is no data shock, unless you call using all your data up carelessly.

i referred 2 people who saw the savings with out the Fall Promo being available.  I didn't get the friend referrals because my ported in number wasn't listed as an available 'public mobile' telephone number, so I don't get the on going credits (I did get a one time credit due to the technical issues).

if your referrals can't see the value in switching, then they wish to pay more for call centres, phone subsidies, and other overrate charges that we don't have here.

i can not support this idea.

It's a good idea, but the Finance guys at Telus would veto it and shake their heads saying there is so little margin here to begin with that this idea would not fly.
