Hi Public Mobile,

We had an instance today where someone misread their utilized data amount in the My Add-ons section of their overview page in self-serve following a renewal, and thought their data did not get reset:

http://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Plans-Add-Ons/quot-My-add-ons-quot-Data-not-resetting-...

Upon closer examination, you can clearly see what's going on.  And it reminded me of a previous identical issue not long ago:

I would like to see the data usage display be a bit clearer.  Here are two options that might help:

Option 1:  Add a "," separator, such as "1,296.441 / 12,288"

Option 2:  Add the ".000" to the available amount, such as "1296.441 / 12288.00"

Option 3:  Add a percentage used and/or percentage remaining in addition to the number, such as "10.55 % used;  49.45% remaining"

Any of the above could be combined, such as "1,296.441 / 12,288.00 - 10.55% used"

Option 4: this one is likely more work:  provide a graph (suggested pie graph) showing the amount used (the 1,296.441) as a slice out of the whole pie (the 12288.00).  This would give a graphical representation and help reduce misunderstanding.

In fact, option 4 could be combined with any or all of 1, 2, and 3 also.  In fact maybe it's a way of implementing.  Implement #1 and #2 right in the current text to increase readability, and then display the 10.55% over the slice used and the 89.45% over the slice remaining.

Thanks for your consideration!

I like this suggestion.

A usage percentage bar with two colours, one for data used, the other for remaining, much like a standard progress bar for installling software 🙂

I agree, anything to make it easier to understand is better.

this would help many people I believe.   But if all else fails there are the awsome data witness and my data manager apps, which I actually find might be easier since they do not involve having to access self serve.

I also make a similar post back in September, hopefull this go round there is more traction.

I also hope they increase the accuracy of the data counter. Mine would sometimes go down and then go up again.

Great idea!  It's always good to make information clearer to end users.
