One of the most annoying things in Public Labs (and it has become worse with new board) is multiple repeats of same idea.

Person 1 suggests X gets 3 bravo

Person 2 suggests X gets 5 bravo

So it looked like idea was not popular when in reality there are multiple threads splitting the vote

We should have some way to cross link or combine threads which obviously are the same

It is bad enough in main forums but in Public Lab it is really bad

Even give us a box to click for duplicates and link to original or something

Yeah, the redesign was to help this... and unfortunetely I'm not digging the redesign Man Frustrated.

Probably just me....

It's interesting, this forum is different than your normal chat forum.... I would suggest that it would be better if the system catorgorized posts based on user input (check-mark fields) and then did a quick search for similar topics before allowing the post to be submitted.

This would help get things in the right bucket, reduce duplicate posts, and perhaps create a way of automatically opening up service tickets for action and tracking by the Mods.

Just a Friday idea... might not be so great as it's almost home time Man Very Happy.

@kav2001c I'm not really sure how much they can do to fix that--people are already unlikely to actually look/search to see if their idea has been suggested before. The only way would be if all new ideas had to go through an approval process and have a human being (want to volunteer?? 🙂 ) sift through each new activity and only allow them publicly posted once sure they aren't a duplicate.

lol, human cleaning/sorting/managing of topics and threads is typically tasked to forum (or sub-forum) moderators. Not the same, it appears, as "PM Moderators/Mods" (who serve very different functions). Clutter and chaos is always part of any public forum, online or offline. And yes, it always gets worse over time when unattended, it eventually becomes impossible to find anything specific on a messy forum or wiki without using some kind of external search engine. For what it's worth, I personally dislike the new organizational format for this community. It's definitely reduced my visits and my activity.

I tend to agree with "srlawren" If people were to actually read a bit they would notice that the idea they are about to post has been posted millions of times already, but it seems like not everyone is actually taking the time to look around about excisting ideas.
