Why are offers for new customers only?

I recently became a PM customer and so far I'm happy with the service. But as I was considering switching my plan to a different one and while I was browsing the website I saw that they have a new promotion with 1GB data and province unlimited calls for $30. But it's annoying to see how they limit this offer to new customers only.

Is switching to a different number or a different carrier and then coming back to PM the only way to get the 1GB for $30 offer?

Thanks!

@Anonymous

We already how the Rewards are paid out, lol, most of us have ongoing Loyalty and AutoPay and Referral and Community Rewards here.  You started by saying

my point when you put 90 day you will get more Loyalty Pays + AutoPay for All customers

which you then contradicted in your own subsequent statement.

I'm not understanding your argument because I'm not understanding exactly what you're trying to say.  What are you trying to say?

@Anonymous I still don't see when the autopay or loayalty rewards are better for the 30 day plans vs the 90 days. If you are in a 30 days plan you get $2 reward with autopay per cycle, while you get $6 for the 90 days one. Hence is still $2 per 30 days... Am I missing something here?

The 1GB for $30 offer for new customers is still better than the 3GB 90 day plan with rewards. Smiley Indifferent

I feel dumb that I've referred nearly a dozen people to PM over the years but only have one referral reward linked to my PM account ... my ex got to keep most of them, of course.  Smiley Frustrated

You were lucky; my ex got to keep the house! Robot LOL

You don't get "more" Rewards (Loyalty/AutoPay/etc) on 90-day vs 30-day plan, the Rewards are the same when evaluated over total of one 90-day or three 30-day periods, the only difference is how often the (same overall) Rewards are paid out.

The 90-day plans also usually cost a few dollars (~$2) less over 90 days.

New customers obviously aren't going to be getting any Loyalty Rewards, lol, we can't really compare the value of Loyalty Rewards now vs plans available one year (or several years) from now.

I'm all for this "New Customers Only" promo.  It might make recruiting new referrals a little easier.

just see that pic and you can visit the website to you can see it

Man I wish it did. All my potential referrals could care less about 1 gig vs 500 meg in 30 days! Please have all you friends contact me when you have enough referrals. Robot wink

@Anonymous with the 90 days plan with autopay you'd get a $33/30 days plan, while with the offer would be $30 each 30 days. Where's the loyalty pay if a new customer gets a better plan?

@Anonymous, loyalty credits are the same on 30 and 90 day plans. In fact, all credits are calculated based on 30 days or 3 x 30 days renewals.

What's the point you're trying to make? This just further proves that the plan @raulg wanted is not available to current customers? Which is a shame. It unfortunate to see Public Mobile move towards being more similar to the "other" wireless companies.

Yes, don't waste your time contacting the moderators. It is one of PM's new marketing strategies. Robot Mad

If you are willing to change your number, you could just open a new account ($10 for the new SIM). The cheapest port-out port-in plan I have found is at http://www.zoomerwireless.ca; $18 including the SIM, so $28 total. Robot Sad

Interesting

Public never used to do new act only plans (excluding the port from Freedom promos)

Well, depending what plan you have, if worst case scenario simply churn (deac-reac)

You would be out $105 as a 1 time fee but then you would have the better plan (and if new plan is better you would easily make the money back)

When I was first reading about PM before swithcing to them that's one of the things I liked the most. I totally dislike when new customers are more important than current customers for companies, while current ones are actually the ones who can recommend the company to others. I find this is specially important on companies that aren't that well known across the public.

Yes I found this frustrating as well.

Most previous PM promotions were available to all customers, both new and existing.  Sad to see when new customers are treated better than those who are already with PM.
