Texting add-on

Do I need a texting plan to be able to add a texting add-on?

You are correct.  So you are going to the US and are going to add a roaming package?  the roaming packages only work while in the US.

PM does not offer texting add-on.

As an alternative, you can use apps like Fongo, TextNow, & Textplus for texting.
