International Roaming

The main reason why I'm hesitant to port over my main number over to PM is the lack of international roaming options. Chatr allows pay-per-use (PPU) roaming which is quite expensive however at least allows one to receive texts at no extra charge. Useful when it comes to receiving OTPs for banking and other important transactions. One just needs to top up and use the PPU facilities. If Rogers can do that for its flanker brand, surely Telus too can.

Another option would be to inform the Bank that you will be travelling to xxx country or disable the option for the period you are away. Which is better since if you lose your phone its no longer tied to your bank.

PM only offers US roaming with 10 day add-ons.  If you have access to wifi then can use apps like WhatsApp, Textnow, Fongo, or Skype.

No need to apologise....but it sounds like you have utilized the search bar option. A great tool to use to  get answers to common questions.

You do pay a little more for chattr and as a result will get a few more frills if you're willing and/or able to pay for it. But the main reason these options are not offered by pm is the service is set up to have no overages or extra billing. So unlike chattr that has the ability to charge you after the fact if you use the ppu service no such ability exists within pm's service model.

Instead pm requires you to have a travel or local sim for these needs saving you money by using said sim/service. You can forward your pm number to a call/text app and recieve any texts/calls/messages thru the app as you travel internationally without it costing you any extra by accessing them thru free WiFi or thru the local/travel sim you are using.
