How to keep my phone number when out of the country for 6 months?

Hi,

 I did not find a firm right solution to my situation, so this is why I need your good help:). I just bought a Samsung A71 (2 simms slot) and a A51 (2 simms slot) for me and my wife. We will use our phones from May to November in Canada, and we will get a second simm from a US carrier to use it 6 months in Winter time. Now my question is: We want to subscribe for a plan for each of us and we want to choose if possible 2 phone numbers at the same time of getting the plans, but before we leave Canada, since we want to keep our same phone numbers for the next years, can we pay for the minimum plan (and don't use the Public Mobile service while in US) and upgrade for a better one every time we come back to Canada? If so, will it cost 6 x $15.00 for each phone for the winter time?  Any suggestion will be appreciate. Thanks. Denlac:)

@Denlac

While in USA you should consider TextNow, it's a great companion to public mobile.

For one time $10 you get the sim (Sprint network) and free Canadian number with unlimited calls and texts to both USA and Canada. Data plans are good, 40 gives you unlimited. I use their app with my be$13 plan

Thanks for a different option that I will have to look into.:)

Try this.

But keep in mind you would lose all rewards.

Thanks.  All these references will be very useful for my next steps going forward with Public Mobile.

I'm sorry @gblackma,   but how is your reply an answer to  the persons question?   the op did not ask how to change plans, nor how to activate nor port.  he asked how to keep a number for 6 months while not using it.

@Denlac  You can suspend an account for 90 days without paying and still retain you numbers so my recommendation is to switch to the $15 plan just before leaving and disable Auto-Pay . About 80 days later access your accounts online via selfserve or by dialing 1-855-4PUBLIC from your us sim device and renew your account one more time. Rinse and repeat, 80 days later if your are still in the US switch to your normal plans and renew you account and that's it.

@Denlac  here is a good guide: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Paying-for-your-service/Extended-Absence/m-p/142735#M...

nutshell version future date to $15 plan before leaving canada and remove autopay.  this will give you 90 days of no service but keeping the number. on day 85 renew plan at $15 and furturedate the new plan, and then let expire. this will give you 30 +90 days.    upon your return to canada you can easily activate the future dated plan.

edit @Denlac   fyi each account will need its own email address.   use the first account as a referal for the second. when activating you have teh choice to select a new number.    if you dont have a referal for the first account ignore the private messages you receive offering you a  referal code, and ask someone in the thread that has helped you.   by using a referal you get $10 credit and the persons whos code you use gets $1/month off.
