Does public mobile offer any kind of family discount or perks for 4 members switching to the $15 province-wide plan?

Yes you could do it many ways. I was thinking the one that pays the bill should have most credit. It could be fairer but one needs a good crystal ball for all those "what ifs".

@Korth : And here I thought daisy-chaining was clever. That's way better. Thanks for that analysis.

You could apply all the Referral Rewards to one account, you could distribute them (more or less) equally, you could allocate them in any other pattern you like. The monthly Referral Rewards and one-time Referral credits will add up the same no matter how you arrange them, which basically makes no difference when they're all being paid out of the same pocket.

But grouping the Referrals onto one account allows you to rescale in the future. Perhaps you find you don't actually want/need/use all the plans, perhaps some (not all) family members decide to migrate to other carriers (they want something PM plans don't offer like bigger faster data or a new phone, etc) ... you can drop one or more of the discrete plans without losing any Referrals anchored to them.

As opposed to the opposite extreme ... where your Referral Rewards are linked to each other in such a way that dropping a single plan off the list actually breaks the chain and costs two Referral Rewards instead of one.

And remember that the plans are not fully interchangeable. Each one has an important distinction: the phone number.

I suspect that most family members will resist the idea of swapping phone numbers with each other just so that the household can save a whopping dollar or two each month. Do you want your wife's phone number? Does your daughter want her dad's phone number?

HOWEVER, you can use your own referral code to start a 2nd account.  The 2nd account gets $10 off on time.  The first account you used to refer get $1 monthly.  No max number of referral.  So, you can use one "main" account to refer all your family members, like $4 every month if you refer 4 members

There is a “max” referral amount.....but I doubt if any one come close to it.

There a some customers past the limit. This is the reason that the topic was brought up with Public Mobile.

Starting costs would be reduced by another $40 since each new account gets a $10 one time credit if they sign up using a referral.

No discount....but take a look.

Family of 4.

#1 Is the main user let’s say

#1  uses MY REFERRAL code 😀 and gets a one time $10 off. Signs up for auto pay for $2 off a month. And every year receives a dollar off per month for loyalty.  So to start off will pay $13 a month.

With referral rewards from #2, #3 and #4, #1 will receive another $3 off per month. So to start #1, will now pay $10 a month.

#1 will have guaranteed “no effort” required, monthly payment in 5  years with loyalty rewards of $1 per year maxing out at $5 and monthly payment will now be $5.

#2  uses #1’s referral code and gets a one time $10 off. #1 receives a $1 referral reward every month for as long as #2 has an account. #2 signs up for auto pay for $2 off a month. And every year receives a dollar off per month for loyalty.  So to start off will pay $13 a month. And in 5 years will pay $8 a month. #2 will have guaranteed “no effort” required, monthly payment in 5  years with loyalty rewards of $1 per year maxing out at $5 and monthly payment will now be $8.

#3  uses #1’s referral code and gets a one time $10 off. #1 receives a $1 referral reward every month for as long as #3 has an account. #3 signs up for auto pay for $2 off a month. And every year receives a dollar off per month for loyalty.  So to start off will pay $13 a month. And in 5 years will pay $8 a month. #3 will have guaranteed “no effort” required, monthly payment in 5  years with loyalty rewards of $1 per year maxing out at $5 and monthly payment will now be $8.

#4  uses #1’s referral code and gets a one time $10 off. #4 receives a $1 referral reward every month for as long as #4 has an account. #4 signs up for auto pay for $2 off a month.

Total Bill for first year is $548.  $588 minus $40 = $548 / 12 = $45.67 average  per month.

For further monthly reductions #1 challenges puts out a family challenge of soliciting friends for referrals and rewards them for their accomplishments.

So to start the cost for family of 4 on $15 plan is $49 per month and in 5 years is $29 per month. Any referrals received can make a significant difference!!!

Keep in mind that any freebies that are offered are applicable to all 4 accounts as well.

And if you contact @darlicious she will give you some other money savings tips for eating cereal!!

The maximum Referral Reward ($110+) is well above the highest-cost plan available.

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Rewards/Is-refer-a-friend-capped/m-p/585558

Public Mobile has no family plans, no group plans, no shared plans of any kind.

Each Self-Serve account gets SIM card, phone number, plan, add-ons, Rewards, and funds balance which are completely isolated from every other Self-Serve account.

If you manage multiple accounts then you can use all but the first one as your own referrals - you can also collect AutoPay Reward (and eventually also Loyalty Reward) on each of them - but that's basically the only sort of "family discount" you'll get.

Starting cost of four $15 plans would be $60 - $8 (AutoPay) - $3 (Referrals) = $49 total

(plus four PM SIM cards, usually $10 each from PM, sometimes cheaper from other sources)

... PM never charges other fees for stuff like activation/suspension/porting/administration/etc

Publicmobile gives loyalty every year up to$5 off your every bill.

That means with autopay each plan will go eventually to $8.

If you use your friend's referral for your first account and your own for the rest of the accounts one of your accounts will have discount of $3. You will also get $40 combined one time credit.

I highly suggest you put it on the account that will not likely switch looking for the latest phone on contract.

If you pass the word around and get some referrals you may get even more referrals and get some of those down to $0.

And one more thing, we get presents from Publicmobile about twice per year for free data and about once per year 200-500 long distance minutes (that includes Canada) those are great.

@guestwilliam : Refer a friend. Use a referral code for your first sign up and get $10 credit. Then use that accounts referral code for the next account and the next account will get $10 credit. Daisy chain on down or use the first one each time. Whatever you like. The referring account will $1 per term for each referral.

Edit: me so slow. 🙂 Is that insensitive to JarJar from Star Wars. 🙂

@guestwilliam , no family plans. You need one email per one account/phone number/SIM activation.

Many Community members (including myself) manage more than one account/phone number, so I can see how this would streamline the management of these accounts.

For ease of communications you can create alias emails for each account (if you have gmail, outlook, check with your email provider) so that at least there is only ONE inbox to be looking at.

Use the referral code to benefit the family members accounts.
