Data not working.

Hello everyone hope you are all doing well.

 

This my first day and it's not starting well. I have 8gb with my plan and i try to use some data

It's telling me that i'm off line. Not sure what to do to make it work.

I'm this close to go back with virgin.

I know this has been solved but I just wanted to add that I had issue with data not working and call and text worked.. so I followed the suggestions in this post, changed the APN setting to match what was suggested and still no data... and then, I decided delete the APN and retyped all in and now everything working... so at times, maybe thats all it needs

When it comes to old devices or outdated version if we are talking software, companies draw a line in the sand that they do not cross because it does not equal profitability.

 

As standards, speed, controls and scopes change (both in device manufactured and in cellular services) this can result in legacy devices like the clients, needing to jump through hoops so to speak to work.

 

It's unfortunate the APN adjustment wasn't automated like most of us would be used to but alas the customer was fortunately able to get up an running by thuroughly verifying their APN settings.

 

You are right to say that most if not all mobile devices out there should be compatible with the service. Although it is entirely possible for the model maker to release updates to further improve older devices and their compatibility, unless they charge a fee for it and there is enough demand, they will probably never bother.

So the difference I saw with the screenshots provided by her was that the APN Type was to be blank rather than what I've more frequently seen here as a string of codes or what was suggested to her before with internet + mms.

Why?

Shouldn't APN settings be about the provider and not the phone? Why would one phone need one thing and another phone need another when they're connecting to the same provider?

Then, what's more confusing is that the only model on there was the S Duos 3 not S3. It doesn't even show the options that she listed.

So how did this work?!!! 🙂

I am not sure what you mean by reference but I do believe in their reply they credited your response ( the one with the link). Was there something else?

It took over an hour to find the problem 1 minute to fix. The moderator should be a bit quicker to reply to messages. anyhow...im going home now..finally

Settings/Mobile network/Preferred network type. See what all you have in there.

Waht is under Network Mode?

 

Ok, just going to try to find some info on it. 

In the meantime try these even if you have done it before. Ask if you do not know how to do it.

- are you able to do an update, probably not because of the age of the version.

- switch airplane mode on then off,

- reset network settings

- Turn phone off - remove sim - turn phone on - let it find no service - turn phone off - insert sim then turn phone on

So, no luck finding 3G, 4G etc I guess? Truly this is not rocket science. We're right here. But if this self-help system is not working for you then another option is to go to a store and maybe someone there could get things going. Dank will like that idea. The store where you bought the SIM maybe. Did you have someone activate the account or did you do it yourself?

Just, rather than waiting around for the replies from them that you're finding to be inadequate.

i did it online myself i bought the SIM at london drugs highly doubt they will help me.


Can you please go into the Settings and scroll all the way to the bottom and touch About phone and find Android version and tell us what you have.

But if this self-help system is not working for you then another option is to go to a store and maybe someone there could get things going. Dank will like that idea. The store where you bought the SIM maybe. Did you have someone activate the account or did you do it yourself?

ok so i try to send txt messages to 2 of my friends at the same time. it worked. im trying to send a picture and it doesnt work.


So MMS isn't working but SMS is. So then it is an APN issue.
