Cancelling plan and keeping phone number

My sons plan expires on the 19th. He won’t be able to use his cell phone for the next 2 months so was hoping he could just let his plan lapse and start up again in a couple of months. But he doesn’t want to lose his phone number as he would like to keep the same one when he has access to use his phone again. Is this possible?

Keep in mind that during the 90-day suspended period, nothing will work - including voicemail. It will sound like a disconnected number to callers.

@Booiegirl

The best way is not to cancel his plan.  If you cancel, you need to find a provider to park his phone number.

Just stop payment.  Without payment, his account will be suspended.  Within 90 days, you need to pay and reactivate his account and continue.  If you do not reactivate his account before 90 days, his account will be cancelled and his number will be returned to the provider who gave him his number.

@Booiegirl if there is no balance. To disable autopay (without removing the credit card).
1. Go the "Payment" tab
2. Click the BIG "Manage Autopay" icon beside "One time payment"
3. Then click "Remove Autopay"

4. To confirm check to see if the $2 autopay discount is gone from the overview page.

Your son can suspended his account.  He will need to reactive and make a payment before 90 days to keep his phone#.

If your Phone is lost or stolen, you can Suspend your service if you’d like to prevent any calls or messages from being sent or received. Doing so will not keep your plan from expiring; however, it will ensure that your credit card is not charged at your next renewal date if you’re on AutoPay.Just follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Self-Serve account
  2. Go to Plan and Add-Ons > Lost/Stolen Phone
  3. Select Suspend Service

Note that after 90 days in suspend, your account will be deactivated permanently so be sure to return to this page if you find your phone or decide to get a new SIM card

@Booiegirl yes it is you can. Remove the autopay credit card and suspend the plan up to 90 days from date of non payment or if there is a balance greater than the cost of the plan, you can suspend it by using lost/ stolen and not removing the credit card, again up to 90 days.

There's a 90 day grace period of suspension to keep an account alive.

Turn off autopay if on.

If Available Funds can pay the plan then you would need to use the lost/stolen function to suspend the account.

Edit: then before 90 days of suspension, turn on autopay if off or use the lost/stolen function again to resume the account. You may need to manually pay in and use the reactivate button.

@Booiegirl hi yes just remove cc or just hit lost stolen in your self serve but remember you only have 90 days and your account will be permanently closed note do not wait untill 90 days reactivate a little earlier😁
