$30 Data-only plan

I'm thinking of your $30 for 1 GB/mo plan.

https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/plans/30for1GB-4GLTE

I have a 2 year old iPad that is WiFi+3G.

Will this plan work for me?

I live in Stratford.

Will you actually use 1GB a month? For the most part, I would think your tablet would be used on WiFi (eg. home, etc).

If you think you will use less than that, I have a different solution. Buy No Talk/No Text/No Data for $10/month (or $19 for 90 days) and the $30 1GB LTE add-on. For a tablet you might want LTE and not 3G. If you use 500MB/month, it works out to $18/month with Autopay.

Doesn't make sense if you use more than that because $30 for 1GB is actually expensive, but if you don't anticipate consuming much data and need it only for occasional use when WiFi's not available and you don't feel like tethering it works out well.

@JackQuint

This doesn't work the way you described it: You can't have an active plan without any features, you must choose at least one of the three.

Also, your numbers are off... 500Mb/month = $30 divided by 2, not by 3.

If you want to go the add-on route, you better get the $10 50minutes/50texts plan. (It becomes $8 if you enable auto pay.) Adding the $30 1GB data add-on will still not be very economical if you can get 1GB per month with talk and text for $23 (with auto pay) or 250MB, 100 minutes and unlimited text for $13 (with auto pay)...

My vote is for the $15/3GB tablet plan from the competition mentioned earlier.

For what it's worth, small data amounts like this would be used up in minutes for anything that actually benefits from full LTE (HD streaming, real time gaming or transferring huge files). For the average usage pattern, Public Mobile's 3G speed plans are absolutely adequate. E-mail, social media, messaging, VoIP, music streaming and lower resolution videos work flawlessly on Public Mobile's LTE light. I prefer to call them LTE light because you still use LTE where available, it's just throttled to 3Mbps (you potentially get higher speeds if you force your phone to a 3G only connection).

If you are looking for a data only plan for a tablet you better off going with another provider like Fido. I think they were offering a 3GB plan for $15.00.

Will work if unlocked but 1GB isn't that much.  Very easy to use up quickly if on full LTE.

@ECook  why not get the $25 plan that includes calling and sms and 1gb data.  thats chreaper than the data only plan.

If you have a koodo account they offer a $15 tablet plan and I believe so does fido ( try purcasing from a non fido store, ie bestbuy or mobleshop etc)

All depends on your personal requirements. Use wifi whenever you can to reduce your data needs. Good luck and welcome to Public Moibile.
