@larry1958 Many other people have had this issue and restarting the phone as @geopublic says fixed alot of them.
I don't want to raise any undo alarms, but if that doesn't work check to see if your device has been blacklisted. That is another issue that has caused this error in the past. Hopefully, I'm not right!

@larry1958 Please provide more info on the issue you are having? Where do you see the unregistered sim error? Did it work after you activated 2 days ago? Have you tried the sim in any other unlocked phone?

@larry1958 Did you activate your account online or in-store? Or, did you confirm your phone is compatible with Public Mobile?
