Spam voicemails

How can I block a spam call that leaves a voicemail and this number is already on my block list on my Samsung Neo 5 Galaxy Cell Phone.  I thought a number that has been blocked can't call my cell number or leave a voicemail.

Blocking numbers in android alone will merely send those callers to voicemail, where they can further bother you by leaving messages you have to delete. that's why I recommend combining this with crippling your busy/declined/blocked conditional call forward setting to a dead-end instead of voicemail.

Usually on android, all you have to do is open the phone app, long press on a number that keeps calling you, and tap on block.

There are some apps you can try if the above step doesn’t work:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webascender.callerid&hl=en

I would also make sure you have the latest android version:

Open your phone's settings app.

Near the bottom, tap system and then advanced and then system update.

Regarding "Lenny" - the telemarketers worst nightmare. You can set your declined and blocked calls on your public mobile phone to be redirected to this bot to keep them busy. More about it here:

But you can prevent blocked and declined callers from forwarding to your Public Mobile voicemail box by simply programming the busy/declined conditional call forward to an invalid or USA phone number - the caller will just get a fast busy or endless ring:

*67*8080000000#

That one is both invalid AND a USA number. 🙂

Reset/Undo it by dialing ##67#

You can't prevent someone from leaving voicemail after blocking the number unless sending the calls to somewhere else. That's what the "Lenny" technique is about. Unfortunately, by doing something such as that, you could also be sending people who you really do want to be able to leave you messages to that "joke" phone number.

Another way to approach this would be to remove the fall number from your blocked list and then to install an app to filter through phone numbers that call you. Some of these apps can be set to answer the call and immediately hang up on the other person. Unfortunately, these apps don't usually work quickly enough to prevent you form hearing your phone ring for about 1 second before the app can answer and disconnect the call. The good news is that the other person won't be able to leave you a message. The bad news is that your phone does ring briefly.

A lot of great information can be found at the below link to a post authored by @Nezgar elsewhere on this forum.

Hopefully it will give you some ideas to try. so you can reduce these messages.

Hello @tupperwarelady ,

Since you already blocked the number are you sure it is coming from the same number?

Numbers can be spoofed (disguising a phone number as another number).

Check you call log to make sure it is coming from the number you blocked.
