Just received a SIM card and created an account with Public mobile. Inserted SIM and it is not recognised. Says that it will only make emergency calls.
Checked phone compatibility before buying SIM.
The phone is LG-B220A. Bought for kids to make calls.
What should I do?

The official blacklist checker that the CWTA recommends usage of is at https://www.devicecheck.ca/check-status-device-canada/ .
With the Public Mobile IMEI checker being so unreliable, I'm not sure why they don't just remove it.
This has been suggested but no action taken. If you look at the updated knowledge base post, will my phone work is referenced, but the dreaded IMEI checker was retained. @Alan_K, please consider once more in removing the imeI checker. This checker continues to give wrong results.

@andrea1, the IMEI checker is best described as a blacklist checker. This site is more reliable. That days, the ad specifically mentioned 2G support. Public Mobile does not run on a 2G network.

Not sure, but it looks like people in other threads have said the IMEI check isn't reliable.

Yes, it is the phone I bought.
How come the IMEI said it would work?

Is this the phone you bought?
It says 2G, which won't work with PM.
To check compatibilty, you need to use a site like:

When I entered the IMEI code to check compatibility it said that it was compatible.

I could be wrong, but it looks like that is a 2G phone which is not compatible with Public Mobile.
If you look in the settings, is there an option to change the network preference to 3G?
