Samsung galaxy a20 compatibility?

jdboulanger
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

My husband wants to switch to PM (I've been using PM since last year)

His phone is a Samsung Galaxy A20

Model SM-A205W

I am not very knowledgeable about cell phones, and the phone is not listed in the compatibility checker!

Thanks for your help!

@jdboulanger  Any A20 Samsung purchased in North America will work on Public Mobile.

I haven't checked the specifications of every version availiable world-wide, but purchasing in North America doesn't ensure an appropriate variant. A seller could import a phone from anywhere.

As for this particular model of SM-A205W, this is a specific Canadian variant. In this day, Samsung wouldn't realease a Canadian-specific variant without it being compatible with Rogers, Bell, and Telus (and even Freedom, Videotron, Eastlink these days).

@computergeek541  Purchasing in North America meaning from an authorized reseller location. (Not Kijiji or otherwise.)

@jdboulanger your husbands phone is 100% compatible. It has the required 3g and 4g LTE bands.

It should be compatible according to these specs.  https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a20-9640.php

Make sure it is unlocked.

@jdboulanger Yes, the phone will work with PM. Don't worry. Make sure it is unlocked though.

The compatibility checker is out of date, but don't worry, your husband's phone is completely compatible with Public Mobile. Remember to refer your husband so he gets a $10 credit!
