Removing carrier name from notification bar on Android

Hi. I would like to remove "Public Mobile" from the notification bar as it's blocking the notification icons from showing (I increased my font and icon size so I don't have to reach for my reading glasses all the time).

I've deselected the option in the Network settings page to "show mobile network" and have restarted my phone but it's still showing. I am using a Moto X4 on Android 9.

Thanks!

One of them might work (and yes, they should both run on Moto if compatible Android version).

You can also try tapping Settings/About/Version or Settings/About/Build about 7-10 times to unlock Dev Settings.

If settings (obvious, hidden, and dev) can't persistently do what they're supposed to do then the phone vendor/carrier has locked the option away from the user and you can't unlock it without rooting.

In any event you're not the only one experiencing this. Maybe contact Motorola?

Thank you so much for looking into this, I appreciate it 🙂

Sorry nothing concrete came up in Google searches.

Some users experiencing same issue as you with different Moto models after unchecking the box for "show mobile network"

Seen one post from someone, I guess from Motorola, saying they escalated issue.

In any event you're not the only one experiencing this. Maybe contact Motorola?

How to remove your carrier's name from the Moto X status bar
  1. Open up the Settings app on your Moto X and under “Wireless & Networks,” tap “More…”
  2. Tap “Mobile networks.”
  3. Uncheck the box next to “Show mobile network.”

The OP already tried that and said the mobile network name didn't disappear.

EDIT: Apologies, posted this before I saw the replies above mine.

I had already tried that, and then restarted my phone, but it unfortunately didn't work.
