I bought a new phone, the IMEI says it's compatible with Public Mobile and I have phone data on. It's a Zenfone 4 Max but the data is not workign on my phone.

I was able to resolve it using the APN instructions I found in this forum. Thank you!
Step1:
Android
Settings > More / More Networks / Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > New APN setting (or a plus sign)
Blackberry
OS 10 - Settings > Network and Connections > Mobile Network > Tap the settings icon (dented wheel)
Windows
Windows 8 Step 1 Settings > cellular > Add or Edit internet APN
iPhone
Step 2:
You will need to input the following information:
Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
Username: Leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: Leave blank
APN type: Leave blank
Step 3:
Select Save/Done. Select Public Mobile to connect to the Public Mobile network

Thank you, yes calls work. I tried everything except a factor reset, it is a brand new phone. Under network when I join Public Mobile 3G it says it's unavailable. Also under APN I don't know what you mean but when I click on it in settings it only has an option for Telus or Koodo.

@RyanJuergen You have posted to an old thread. In future you will have more assurance of help by creating your own topic on the forum (which I have done for you today), or sending a private message directly to the moderators.
Here's a long checklist for troubleshooting data connection WHEN calling works:
- connects with wifi?
- cellular data turned on?
- confirm data is included in your plan and not used up
- if dual sim use LTE/3G slot
- is it all apps that use data or just the browser not connecting?
- toggle airplane mode off/on
- remove sim for 5 minutes, then install and reboot
- go to settings, then general-profile and delete any profiles
- check network is not set to 2G; use auto, 3G, or LTE
- check for operating system updates
- APN settings correct Public Mobile
- delete current APN, and re-enter settings
- remove any VPNs
- reset all network settings; you will need to add back wifi passwords after that.
- try sim in another phone and a good sim in your phone
- LAST desperate measure when all else fails; erase all data and restore phone to factory settings
