Pretty much any new phone you can buy in a retail outlet would be compatible. Why would they take up space in their store for something no one could use locally.

Good point that is why an online search may offer the sections.

Hi @vicki3

Here's one thing you could try - if there's a used one you wanna test, simply use a friends/family member's Public Mobile SIM in it to see if you can use the phone's calling & texting features.

Data is likely hit or miss with these items - so might be best for a $15 plan with Public Mobile.

@vicki3

I started out with an Alcatel A392 flip phone and still use it as a back up phone. Check compatibility on  https://willmyphonework.net/

@vicki3 Only if they are compatible with the 3G/HSPA network bands. PM does not support 2G bands so majority of flip phones wont work.

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:

  • 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS).
  • HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS).
