Need a pin number to unlock SIM card on old HTC phone

Sam438

Hi,

My phone died out, I am trying to use a 5 year old HTC phone which my brother had on an old Fido account (HTC Desire 601).

The phone is locked, asking for an 8-digit SIM pin number, I tried 12345678, 1234. I need help with this!

Thanks,

Sami

The SIM Network Unlock PIN cannot be reset for any device. It is specific to that unit and allows the phone to be used at other carriers.

Is your brother still with Fido?

If yes, ask your brother to call Fido to get the unlock code.

They changed the unlock policy recently.  Only the current subscriber or within 6 months (IIRC) of disconnect phone service can get unlock code.

From Fido unlock FAQ, it says "recently cancelled" can get the phone unlocked by Fido.

You will have to contact Fido to get it unlocked.

Is the message something like Sim network unlock pin?

If yes, that means the phone is locked to the old provider. So you'd have to contact Fido for the unlock code.
