If you are buying a phone from out of Canada then make sure it is compatible with all the frequencies and bands working with Public.

Public Mobile services only work while you are in North America...to work in the U.S.A you need to purchase roaming addons to use the services.

So, if you are outside North America, you cannot use your PM service anyway.

Log into your Self Serve account and list your phone as Lost/Stolen.

This will prevent any calls or messages from being sent or received.

Doing so will not keep your plan from expiring; however, it will ensure that your credit card is not charged at your next renewal date if you’re on AutoPay.

Just follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Self-Serve account
  2. Go to Plan and Add-Ons > Lost/Stolen Phone
  3. Select Suspend Service

Note - that after 90 days in suspend, your account will be deactivated permanently so be sure to return to this page (found in the link below) if you find your phone or decide to get a new SIM card.

Unfortunately you need a physical SIM card to do that. Unless you get a SIM card sent to you, you'll have to wait until you return back to Canada.
