List of missing devices from Compatibility Checker

Alan_K
Deputy Mayor / Adjoint au Maire

Hi Community,

Thank you for the positive comments on the new phone compatibility checker. As you may know, we partnered with willmyphonework.net and utilize its extensive catalog of mobile devices. With that said, you’ve highlighted to us that there are devices that are not captured still, and we want to keep track of that here to provide feedback on a regular basis.

Please comment below your phone make and model that wasn’t found on our checker and we’ll be sharing on a monthly basis back to our partners.

Thanks,

Public Mobile Community Team

@Naepalm Whichever website that screenshot came from, I highly suggest not using it.  It will only confuse people.  The information provided is incorrect. Public Mobile does not have any 2g-type network.  This could potentially cause people to think that a phone is compatible when it isn't.

@Lucas678

You can check this Telus IME# Check and it will tell you if it works on the network.

http://mobility.telus.com/devicecompatibilitycheck/?locale=en

Shows that it is compatible although it does not have use of all bandwidths.

Hi. Is the Samsung a51 compatible? Thanks!

@Lise01 generally yes.  There are a few variants of the A51 sold in other parts of the world, but if you acquired it in North America it is definitely compatible.

EDIT: there are Russian and Autralian variants that I'm less sure about, but the Global versoin SM-A515F/DSN (Global) and Latin American SM-A515F/DS (LATAM) will certainly work.  I'm not sure about the Brazilian variant either actually.

Hi. Is the Samsung a51 compatible? Thanks!

@pazmariano  Set your phone to 3G and try connecting. I'm assuming you already have activated your card?

@pazmariano  restart your phone, enavle data  and try to send an mms text message. If that works, your APN settings are correct. Log into your self service account and see if you have data available it should look like xxx/ 250mb at 3g speed. See below.

Hi @gblackma,

Thanks for your suggestion. Tried the steps but still failed to connect using mobile data.

@pazmariano reset your network settings and restart the phone. Samsung's will usually propagate the correct APN settings for the phone.

Samsung Galaxy J7 V / Galaxy J7 - Reset Network Settings
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up then navigate: Settings. > General management.
  2. Tap Reset.
  3. Tap Reset network settings.
  4. Tap RESET SETTINGS.
  5. Tap RESET SETTINGS to confirm.

Enable data, Restart your phone,  reenter your wifi if applicable.  Try sending an mms text message and to surf the net.  Stay safe.  Welcome to PM.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. But I cannot enter APN details because it prompted settings are not available for the user. Hope anyone can help with this.

Thank you.

It's 100% compatible has both the required 3g and 4g bands @pazmariano . Stay safe.  The PM SIM is a tri punch one fits all 3 of the sizes.

@pazmariano

Does it have this somewhere in the about section

SM-J710F*

 850MHz, 1900MHz

Band5-850MHz, Band7-2600MHz

SM-J710M*
850MHz, 1900MHz

 Band17-700MHz, Band5-850MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz, Band7-2600MHz

Because if it does then it is supported by Public mobile

Looking to see if there is compatibility to the Samsung A6?

@pr4mr wrote:

phone is    LG L44VL

Sorry, but a phone with only CDMA and LTE won't be any good here. While LTE might work (depending on frequencies supported) for data an text messaging, you won't be able to make or receive any phone calls with this device.  That device isn't really any good for any carrier here, so I highly suggest purchasing a different phone.

Yes, it is. This is a Canadian-specific variant.
