Data not working with LG-K210

user9901

I recently got the talk/text/2GB plan for my LG-K210. I can talk and text on it, but the data won't work. If this website is correct (https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-k210-firmwares/), then my phone should work with some of Public Mobile's bands.

Here is what I tried:

  • Turning the phone off, taking the SIM card out for a minute, putting it back in, and turning it back on
  • Resetting the APN settings to default (though there are no profiles in that menu to reset)
  • Putting my SIM card in my friend's phone (data works fine). I also put his SIM card (same Public Mobile plan) in my phone, but the data doesn't work.

It really sounds like a hardware issue, or that the bands aren't actually compatible and that I'm misreading the website above. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's so strange... Another network reset and the other thread's slightly different APN settings. I'd hate to do a factory reset now, because I don't have a computer to back up to, no wifi at home, and I'm writing here on my friend's data. I better contact a mod. Thanks again for all of the help guys.

You would hate to have to do it, yet that factory reset will probably make your data work. I know that needing to back everything up and set up the phone again just the way you like it is cringe-worth, but if you want your service working correctly on an LG phone, you're probably just gong to have to proceed.

@user9901 here's a thread where they had to factory reset the k210 to get data to work.

So seems like some 210s fix with a network reset and others require an actual factory reset.

HI @user9901 ,

humm?...resetting network settings worked for this user:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Phones-Hardware/Data-does-not-work-on-LG-XPower-K210/...

I like a good mystery, but usually only when a solution is found. It sounds like you are doing all the right tests.

Is there anything new in this link, that you may not have tried:

https://thecellguide.com/how-to-fix-mobile-data-issues-on-an-lg-smartphone-625

@user9901  as previously mentioned some LG phones require a complete factory reset for data to work on Public Mobile. It seems like you would have to do this with your phone. Be sure to back everything up first.

Or before doing that you can reach out to the moderators to see if they have other options before performing a factory reset.

I understand the chat bot gave you difficulty so below link you'll be able to private message them.

Thank you both for the quick and thorough answers. esjliv, I can happily say that I already had my data on, and have gone through the chat bot. Rather than sending me to a mod, it told me to post here. Turning airplane mode on and off didn't do anything. I already tried my SIM card in my friend's phone (it works). The data on his Public Mobile SIM card doesn't work on my phone.

Jb456, I also really appreciate the help, though neither APN profile appears to work. I tried some other things on that other thread (my bad for not searching the forum first!) but to no avail. Resetting the network settings made no difference, neither did unlocking oem setting in the developer options.

Another trick is, do you have another phone you can test your SIM in?

Put your SIM in this other phone, reboot it.

If the phone give you data abilities then it is not an account issue (to rule this out), but something on your LG-K210.

If you are still having data issues with another phone contact the moderators:

To contact the Moderator_Team, there are two ways to reach them:

1-Click the question mark on the bottom right hand side of your screen to talk to SIMon the chat bot.

Can you manually add new APN settings to the phone?

Some LG phones require a factory reset. Which, of course you should back up all important info, picture, etc first as it complete resets the phone.

There's an old thread on the k210 with a confirmation data does work. See @Luddite  response on that thread. Link below.

If you can add new APN settings. Try these.

Save and reboot phone. If they don't work try these.

Try turning on and off the Airplane Mode. There are two ways to do this.

  • Control Center. Open control center, then swipe down from the very top of any screen (except the notch at the top center of the display). You'll see the shortcut listed on top and look for Airplane Mode.

  • Settings. Go to [Settings] > [Airplane Mode].

Hi @user9901 ,

It sounds like you are doing some good testing/research.

I have to ask, is your DATA enabled?
