Compatibility Confusion

Hi

I live overseas but will be in Canada for a few months and want to bring my own device. I have a Moto X Style International Version XT1572 (https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_x_style-7229.php).

According the 'willmyphonework.com' this will work with PM. However, according to PM's website IMEI checker, it won't. Bit confused by this contradiction. Anyone understand this and know for sure?

Thanks

@bonfire4 you're right--the PM IMEI checker does indeed attempt to verify compatibility; unfortunately, it's very lousy at it and very often produces the incorrect results.  Willmyphonework.net is FAR more accurate.

To be sure, I looked up the XT1572 specs on GSMArena (https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_x_style-7229.php) and it is indeed compatbility:

3G bandsHSDPA 800 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 900 - EU (XT1572)
 HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - USA
4G bandsLTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 17(700), 20(800), 25(1900), 28(700), 29(700), 40(2300), 41(2500) - EU (XT1572)
 LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 25(1900), 26(850), 41(2500) - USA

I bolded the relevant bits.  850MHz and 1900MHz HSDPA 3G is what you need for talk, text, and HSPA+ (3G) data, and the phone includes both bands.  For 4G LTE data, band 4 is the primary band required, which the phone supports.  Bands 2, 5, 7, 12, and 17 are also assets, and possibly a few others in the list.  So you're definitely good to go.

Hi Shawn

Thanks for your help. Are you sure the PM site only checks for blacklisting? The exact response is:

Moto X Style

Your device will not work on our Network.
Your device has not been reported as lost or stolen.

And thanks for the other link you sent. Annoyingly it seems the Motorola X Style XT1572 is not listed on the site.

The IMEI checker only checks to see if your phone is blacklisted or not.  The willmyphonework.net I would say is more reliable.  You can also check in on apn-canada.gishan.net/
