Buying phones

I know there's the IMEI checker thing for making sure your phone works on PM, but what about buying a phone online? is there a easy way of knowing if the phone would be compatible with out knowing the IMEI number?  I mean shouldn't all unlocked phones work? Or are their specific brands that are not compatibld, and if so, what are they?

If you are looking at specs on manufacturer's websites, here is a comprehensive post from @sheytoon on what the minimum frequency requirements are: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Discussions/LTE-network-fundamentals/m-p/198799/highl...

The website that I'd direct you to check is http://www.willmyphonework.net/

From there you can enter the make/model (sub-model) of a device and check it against a provider in order to ensure that device has the required frequencies to work correctly..... so to answer your question, not all unlocked phones will work with PM.  Most North American models of phones which are unlocked will work on PM's network but check the above website to be sure.  When you get into the world of phones from other regions of the world things can get a bit dicey and this website has quite a comprehensive list to help you determine if a device will work.

If you're still not sure, you can reply in this thread with the make and model of the device that you are thinking of and someone here can check for you - there's a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here Smiley Happy
