APN - how to set it up

I understand that it is important to set up APN correctly in order to send and retrieve SMS to/from other countries.  But logging in to APN on the phone, I am asked a whole array of questions, and I have no clue what the correct aswers are, including what is the name of my APN.  Can somone clarify this to me?

There is something here that fills in some of those fields automatically, and not with the exact same vales for everything.  I guess I am OK accepting these values?

I cannot turn the APN on/off  - is there a trick hidden in that?  Do I miss doing something here?  I is grey on my screen, indicating that I am not suppolsed to touch it and I can't.

Your reply blew my mind with awe....

Try the simple solution first before configure APN manually.

- enable data

- restart you phone with your PM SIM card inserted will configure your APN automatically

- If not, you need to manually configure APN as suggested above.

These are the Public Mobile APN settings you need:

Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
Username: Leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: Leave blank
APN type: default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: GID
MVNO value: 4D4F or 4D

Don't forget to save these settings and then select this APN as the active one.

If you need to know where to find the settings:
Android
Settings > More / More Networks / Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > New APN setting (or a plus sign)

.
