Voucher Location Alternative

Some of the locations that you can buy payment voucher are outdated on the public mobile website, for example, A&C game store doesn't offer them anymore (452 Spadina Ave, Toronto), however, I do find where to buy payment voucher near that area, the 7/11 store across the street, but you need to pay the 13% tax, and they only offer $100 purchase option, so that will give you $113 in total if you buy a $100 payment voucher.

So if anyone plans to visit A&C games on Spadina Ave. to buy a voucher, don't bother to go in and ask, but instead, you can go to the 7/11 store across the street.

It's known to be a bit wonky. Here are some known outlets:

  • Esso
  • Shopper's Drug Market
  • Canadian Tire Gas Bar
  • Shell
  • Hasty Market
  • Ultramar
  • Uniprix
  • Walmart
  • WOW Mobile (will activate SIM too)
  • K Mobile
  • Jean Coutu
  • Pharmaprix

you have to pay taxes in all these  stores unless you are native and buy the item  the reservation . or you have a card to show to the retail store listed above .

>>> ALERT: I AM NOT A MODERATOR.

Taxes are unavoidable on prepaid vouchers (and gift cards), unless they explicitly sell themselves as "tax free" items.

You can avoid taxes if you have Native Status and purchase these vouchers on reservation land.

Stores selling PM vouchers include 7-Eleven, Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, Esso gas stations, K-Mobile, WoW Mobile Boutique.

It's that that you've found another nearby place, but no matter where you buy these vouchers, you will/should be charged sales tax.  If that other store is not charging taxes, they are either including it in the price, which means that the voucher that they give you would actually be worth less than $100 (+tax).  Once a voucher is printed out or added to the account, there's a pretty clear trail left behind of sales tax that either the store or Public Mobile is going to have submit.

More correctly, taxes are applied at the time of purchase.  Voucher at local store, or credit card / debit card online.

@llollkk, regarding the tax, that must be paid wherever you get your voucher from.  The net amount is loaded into your account (without taxes).  The only time public mobile calculates/charges taxes is on credit/debit card transactions (and the tax amount doesn't show in your transaction history).
