How do I change the default for whether my phone number shows up on my outgoing phone calls?  I have used SIMon, which says o press "*31#" before every call, but I want my default to be that my number is shown.  Thank you.

Thank you everybody.  Now that my number is taken care of, what about my name?

For example, when I phone my parents, who still have a landline, their call display shows my number and "Private Name".  How do I change "Private Name" to show my name instead?

Thank you again!

That isn't something that's possible. Public Mobile does not broadcast a name to go along with the phone number information during an outgoing call.  Most cell phone companies in Canada do not send name information when making an outgoing call.

I see that after switching your SIM card, when you receive a call from a contact,

it comes in as only the phone number and not their name. I rely also on my caller

ID, so I can understand your concern.

If your phone is an IPhone or iPad, please try to update your carrier settings on

your iPhone or iPad.

As carrier settings updates let your carrier provider update carrier network and
related settings to improve cellular network connectivity and performance.

1.Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Home screen > Settings > Wi-Fi. Turn on Wi-Fi. Tap the name of the Wi-Fi network

that you want to join. Enter the password for the secure Wi-Fi network, then tap

Join.
After you join a network, you'll see v next to the network and Wi-Fi connected in

the upper-left corner of your display or the upper-right corner.

2. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, you'll see an option

to update your carrier settings.

To see the version of carrier settings on your device, tap Settings > General >

About and look next to Carrier.
To see additional carrier information, tap the version number.

If you insert a new SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, you need to download the

carrier settings for your new carrier.

3. Verify the Language and Region settings are set correctly:
Go to Settings > General > Language & Region.

4. Make a call test to see if the issue is resolved.

5. If the issue remains, try this:
Settings > General > Reset all settings. And done.

6. Make a call test to see if the issue is resolved.

For an Android phone, please try this:

1. Power off your phone. Wait 1-2 minutes. Power on your phone.

2. Go to Settings > About phone > Status > SIM Status.

. Network: Public Mobile
. Signal strength: -105 dBm 31 asu
. Cellular Network type: LTE
. Service state: Voice: in service/Data: in service
. Roaming: Not roaming
. Cellular network state: Disconnected
. My phone number: YOUR CORRECT PM's PHONE NUMBER

3. Go to Language & Input > Language: English (YOUR CHOICE)

4. Go to More... > Cellular network settings

Preferred network type: 4G (recommended) * for a LTE 4G capable phone

Touch "Search for networks"

Touch Choose automatically >
should see the message "Registered on network".
Meaning the PM SIM is registered on PM network.

5. Clear Data and clear Cache of the app that is used to make calls.
For the regular Dialer app. Go to Settings > Apps > All > Dialer.
Touch "Clear Data", "Clear Cache."

6. Make a call test to see if the issue is resolved.

If the phone receiving call is a land line phone, you may want to add your caller

ID (name and phone number) in its contact list. This may also resolve the issue.

Per-use on outgoing calls:

*67 blocks "public" caller ID

*82 reveals "private" caller ID

iPhones and Android phones always have a Setting for this... And the options are always Show, Block, or Use Carrier Default. But each device maker (and iOS/Android version) tends to bury this Setting somewhere different in layers and layers of submenus.

If we know the brand/model phone (and what operating system/version it runs) then we can provide detailed instructions to find and change this setting.

Please try the following:

Opening your Phone app, the blue icon. Touch the 3-dot "memu". Touch "Settings".

Locate "Calls" or "Additional settings". Touch "Additional settings".

If the SIM card is properly seated and readable, Android will read your phone number from the SIM settings.

Finally, locate "Caller ID".

Ensure that it is set to: Use default operator settings to display my number in outgoing calls.

Next, verify in your self-serve account that the phone number under My Plan & Add-ons is the right phone number for your account.

Place a phone call. With the above default settings, your phone number should show

on the receiving phone, unless you have special app that may block your Caller ID.

Good luck.

At the Public Mobile account level, the default setting is for your number to be shown.  Check your phone settings menu for something similar to "Show My Caller ID".

Try dialing *67 ahead of area code and number.

That does the opposite.
