The only time that someone should use this is if it's impossible (or made very difficult by th old carrier) to get the account number. In the case of porting from Speakout or Petro-Canada, IMEI should actually be used.

If you can, just leave the IME/serial number blank.  Usually just need account holder name, account number and phone number to be ported.  Sometimes, entering IME/serial number messes up the port.

It's best to enter prior service Account Number in most cases.  You only need to enter that, your old phone number, and the name the account was in on the prior provider.

 

You could use the IMEI number field - that's the one they need.  NOT the old provider serial number.
