I can text and call out and get wifi where i live but not the data that i have with public mobile.  I have a Moto 2 2nd generation phone which is an android 6 version.  I have gone to settings and put in all the information in my cellular networks but it is still not working because I cannot save the settings in my phone.

I have a backup phone Moto G (first gen).  I did not do anything.  Insert my PM SIM card.  Power up. It sets up the APN by itself.

The APN is the same shown on this page. https://apn-canada.gishan.net/en/apn/public-mobile/motorola-moto-g-2nd-gen

@philjane not sure what a "moto 2 2nd gen" is, but if yours is a Moto G 2nd gen then please use the link above from @popping.  If it's a Moto X 2nd gen, then try this one https://apn-canada.gishan.net/en/apn/public-mobile/motorola-moto-x-2nd-gen

@philjaneHave you tried to insert your sim in another phone to make sure there is not an issue with your plan/account?

I compare the specs on gsmarena between gen 1 and 2.  The supported frequencies are the same.  I can only select 3G on my gen 1 - (LTE does not work).  You should select 3G too.

1.  Select network to use 3G only as it does not support LTE.

2.  Do a network reset

3.  Restart and let it sets up the APN automatically.

Good luck.  Please report back.

So you have had the plan for 25 days and have never had your data working? Or could you have used up all of your plan data?  If you login to your self serve and on the overview page you should see data in your addons section and how much you have used.  If you do not see your data there it means you have used it all up.

 @philjane

What is the full make/model of that phone? Something more than Moto 2 if anything.

Are you able to change the network to something like 3G rather than auto or 4G/LTE?

My plan is the $40 one and my renewal date is feb 17

I am really late to the party.  However, it is important that I shill the knowledge base articles.  A lot of what is needed to use this service is covered in these articles.  This is the one that explains how to set up APN settings including the need to perform network resets on some phones.

We need more info: phone model, what plan you're on, whether you're fully set up on PM, what you mean by set up data, whether you tested anything yet. Else, it'll just be guesswork as to what you're looking for, so please provide more specifics so we can help.

@philjane what phone do you have. Some phones namely LG require (possibly others) a network settings reset or even a factory reset.

You can have a look in this site to help you to see your APN @philjane...https://apn-canada.gishan.net/

If you are referring to the settings you need it should be:
Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Leave blank
Port: Leave blank
Username: Leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302

Authentication type: Leave blank
APN type: default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: GID

Save the settings and make sure you select them as the active apn.

Oups @philjane you didn’t write anything in the subject to explain what happened to you... but good job for your post!!! Give us more detail.. what is your plan? Your renewal date? Can you phone or text???...
