Why is the Base Plan pricing for Unlimited Talk/Text + 1GB data, the same as choosing NO DATA?

I have been playing around with the different base plan pricing, and discovered that it costs the same whether or not data is selected. Why is this? Shouldent it be lower if you select "No Data"?

  • [Canada-Wide Calling]+[International Texting]+[1GB 3g Data] = $35
  • [Canada-Wide Calling]+[International Texting]+[No Data] = $35

Or is the 1GB 3g data considered a freebe?

@BrandonBerner as @kav2001c noted, Public Mobile allows you to pick and choose the service(s) you want, but the more you choose, the larger the discount.  In some cases, adding a 3rd service will increase the discount enough to either completely offset (negate) the extra cost of adding that service.  If you'd like to think of it as getting the data for free, then that's cool!

If you were just looking for talk + text, it's actually $5 *cheaper* per month to pick the 500MB of 3G-speed data as well, for $30 instead of $35 for just talk + text.  So that might be an option for you.

Public has always given a larger discount with pick3 options
