SMS Issue

aranan580

Hello,

I have been with Public Mobile for 6 months now and noticed that some text messages that I send are not being received (and vice versa).  I have an iPhone 8 and is affecting Android users.

I tried rebooting my phone, but do not seem to resolve the issue.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi @aranan580 ,

"Moderators:

They should respond to you shortly. If it has been over 24 hours I would send another message.

Hello,

I signed out of my Apple ID, sign back in, and confirm the send/receive message is set to come from my mobile number.

However, the issue still persists.

I checked my usage history and don’t see any SMS items being sent or received to my mobile number.

This issue sounds more like it’s on Public Mobile’s side.

Kindly advise.

@aranan580

  • log out of your Apple ID and then sign back in

To make sure your phone can send and is receiving all messages, you want to have the phone number selected as the send and receive option.

1. Tap Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
2. Make sure it is your phone number that is selected and not an email address.

have you received a response from mods yet?

Thanks for the tips.

I tried the following steps after updating the message settings, but still no luck

  • Restart iPhone
  • Reset Network Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)

Any additional suggestions would help.

@aranan580 Try restarting with the correct settings and resending the message. Also try a network reset and restart your phone if it doesn't automatically do so. Stay safe.

Thanks for the quick response!

I followed your advice, but still cannot send or receive messages to Android users.

When I send an SMS to an Android user, I do not receive any error messages.

When an Android user sends me an SMS, they do not receive any error messages.

Attached are screenshots to my iPhone message settings.

@aranan580 , make sure you are sending SMS instead of iMessages which android phones cannot handle.  iMessage is an iOS thing only.

Hello @aranan580 ,

Try:

*a network reboot

*removing and reinserting the SIM

Also, are you texting through your imessages app?

Check your settings in your imessages.

If none of the above is a resolution, maybe it is a provisioning issue with your account.

@aranan580 did you enable sms and mms on your IPhone 8? It allows you to send and receive from Android phones. Stay safe.

You iPhone friend can receive your text message.  But not your Android friends.

This is because iMessage on iPhone uses its own protocol which Android phone does not understand.

You need to enable SMS/MMS on your iMessage settings.
