I am trying to register and make an account, I am on the "verify your phone number" step, and whenever I put my phone number in, it says:

"The phone number entered is invalid or you may have created your profile already. If you've forgotten your password, please click here."

I have never before made an account. Why is it not working?

Did you activate at a store? If that's the case and you can't create your self serve account, you will need to contact the moderators. Open a tcket by going to https://publicmobile.ca.ada.support/chat/ and by typing in "rep".

@Bob_thebuilder sounds like you are on the set up account page and not the get started page. You need to go to the get started page when you start with the Sim card number and friend refferal code!
